Re: How do you compare your improvements vs other people?

Also are you guys checking tire temps and pressures after each run? If you know what pressures your car is happy at, you should be bleeding pressure down after each run as the PSI will increase as the tires heat up. I don't check tire temps consistently. On a test day where I have a bunch of runs a...

Re: e30 CDC prep

we need some more activity around here. I'd be glad to post some pictures of my off-season activity but frankly the only thing I've done to my fine Miata since the last CDC autocross in November is hook up the battery tender. I do have a to-do list that should be done before the new season kicks of...

FS: 17x8 +50 Kosei K4R with usable BFG Rival S

Wheels: 17x8 +50 5x114.3 Kosei K4R in dark grey. Light wheels (14.8 lbs each). No curb rash, just some mounting marks on very outside of the lips. No other cosmetic flaws. Tires: 225/45ZR17 BFGoodrich Rival S. Build date 0815. Tires were flipped mid-use so wear is nice and even across all four. Wear...

Re: Just bought a 2002 Miata

You're limited to 6 inch wide wheels. Stock wheels aren't heavy at all but you could keep your eyes peeled for '95 M Edition BBS 15x6 which I believe are the lightest stock 15" wheels out there. There are two tires that seem to be over and above all the others right now: Bridgestone RE71R and B...

Afternoon tech on Saturday?

I'm thinking of running two of my cars on Saturday, running home to switch after my morning heat. Will there be an opportunity to get my second car teched after I make the switch?

Nope no reason to take it down.

Biggest thing I took from the comparison was that I was whooping and hollering after my run and you were all "yeah well whatever". That and the CRX is pretty freakin loud.

Re: Waldorf October 11th Results

Those who braved the elements probably had a pretty good day despite them. It never really rained once we got going, but it never really dried out either. I made a late Friday evening decision to run, and brought my daily driver CRX to play. 244K miles, half-prepped for STS. It had four year old R1R...

My non-expert opinion is that if you have more than a handful of events under your belt, there's nothing wrong with skipping Phase 1.

I'm taking a chance on new stuff. Got 205 Rivals on 7.5 6ULs ready to go. After a couple of years of pushing the easy button with magical R1Rs this will be an interesting experiment.

Re: Educate me about small vintage cars! (MGs, Triumphs, etc

I saw a Fiat Spyder kaput on the side of the road with the hood up last weekend in Sterling. If you're thinking of getting a Triumph or MG, save yourself a LOT of headaches and get a Miata. I've got a 1971 MGB taking up valuable garage space. I bought it in 1987. It was a clunker then and it's a clu...

Racing Beat big tubular front sway bar, no rear bar. FatCat bumpstops, Flyin Miata rear shock...

Re: Feedback from the miata guys...

I have a handful of Miatas including a 93 with open diff and 99 Sport with Torsen. We run the 93 in SCCA STS and wheelspin isn't a big deal, I only get it trying to dig out of tight corners and it's manageable, and the car is competitive locally. Just driving around town I like the extra grunt of th...

Mix and match R-comps for sale (15")

Selling four used R-comp tires. All are used but not used up. No cord showing, plenty of good rubber left. I wanted the wheels they were on more than the tires. Ran these tires three or four times myself and took them off to put street tires on the wheels. 2 Hoosier A6 205/50/15, build date 4608 2 K...
