Re: Giving Thanks for autocrossing 11/19-11/20

Thanks to the organizers for a great day yesterday! I really enjoyed the course setup more than past events @ Frederick! Going to be a looong couple of months with no car fun :(

Re: FATT - June 5

Hyperfest is gonna be bonkers this year. In addition to the NASA event + drifting + BSR stuff, they've got the arrive-and-drive karting, they're running a Rally Sprint (about a 2 mile long course I hear) and, oh yea, 24 Hours of LeMons on the Shenandoah. There's not even going to be enough space at ...

Re: FATT - June 5

Jefferson is pretty small and relatively slow. FWIW, iRacing has Summit Main and Jefferson circuits and you get them for free when joining, so you can check it out/learn the track ahead of time. They always have new sign-up promotions as well. This weekend it's 3 months + indy500 car/track for $32. ...

Re: 09/19 Summit Point

Thanks to all the organizers for a great event. It was a lot of fun driving on the "reduced traction" surface. It kind of felt like driving in the wet, only without water. Based on that I may have to go and try one of the drift events they hold there some day! Video from one of my PM runs ...

Re: Track Day for 2009

I talked to Ted, and he confirmed that all CDC members can sign up for the Mercedes club track days. In the past, they made you join the club after the first event you attended with Mercedes. To avoid the confusion, please e-mail Ted at tedjoseph@cox.net Ed GWS-MBCA puts on terrific events, so good...

I took just one picture on my phone while sitting around. It shows how wet it was at least:

Re: July 20th Test & Tune at Harry Grove

+1 - I would like to see this be a scored event if it's going to be run like a normal autox anyway. Would doing so adversely affect other competitors who had not planned on/made time for this date?

Re: Location Suggestion

Wow, let's do that!! Along those lines, there's a similar police training track in Chantilly, VA but I don't know of any club that's negotiated a deal to use it so it's likely that they're not going to be nearly as receptive the idea as the one mentioned above. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl...

Re: Summit Point Main Track

Yea, I was looking forward to driving on the new pavement for the first time this weekend. Big disappointment with having to take weird lines around half the corners to avoid washboard potholes :(

Great call. The pit lane is unnecessary risk IMO.
Agreed. It's extra fun in the rain with all the standing water that builds at the bottom of the hill as you enter the pit straight.

Organic Pep Boys brand, right? ;) Just kidding, I'm running Porterfield R4-S pads. Hopefully I won't be too much of a moving road block for you guys.... I would strongly advise against using R4-S pads at the track. They are a terrific street pad, but there is a reason it says right on the box "...
