Brand new set of Maxxis RC-1 tires, 100TW, 235/40/17

For sale is a set of brand new Maxxis RC-1 tires, 100 treadwear (100TW), size 235/40/17. These things last forever and work well for both autocross and trackdays if you're looking for a tire that's respectable at both. Asking $500 for a set of 4, but for CDC members, i am including two extra tires f...

GRIPFEST 15 was a blast!

GRIPFEST 15 is a circuitcross event, basically a time attack / autocross hybrid. It was hosted by Tidewater Sports Car Club (TSCC) at the NCCAR circuit. Super fun event. Would be worth a try if you're interested in track driving.

Looks good to me, Mike. Simple, and grounded in real-world data - mission achieved. Thanks for yours and Greg's hard work and for staying open to everyone's thoughts and recommendations. Curb weight is the actual weight (not necessarily published or what's on your doorjam) w/o driver? To anyone that...

Re: 2018 TIRE INDEX ADJUSTMENTS

i think the power index looks good, Ed. the proposed tire index doesn't seem to map to the real-world performance data, or to distinct UTQG rating ranges (TW 200 - 204???). The Parsons and I had recommended the following, which has buy-in from a few members: > 301 TW : 0.98 300 - 201 TW : 1.00 200 -...

Based on real-world data and feedback from club members: < 100TW tires - 1.02 Current-gen 200TW and 100TW R-comps - 1.00 Last-gen 200TW - 0.98 > 200 TW tires (all) - 0.96 The current "cheater 200TW" are the benchmark (Rival S, RE71R, 595RSRR, RS4, SUR4G), since that's what the vast majorit...

Re: 2018 TIRE INDEX ADJUSTMENTS

Agree that CDC is a casual club with the spirit of having fun. However, there are plenty of talented folks, and people who are interested in a fair yardstick to gauge their own driving. Other members voiced this desire on the facebook post. Not because we're overly competitive, but because we desire...

2018 TIRE INDEX ADJUSTMENTS

All, Tire technology and performance has changed significantly from when the CDC tire index was last updated. Given similar car prep and driver talent, a driver that shows up on Rival S or RE-71R is pretty much guaranteed to beat someone showing up on "last generation" autocross tires. To ...

Re: Awards Proposal

Frank says "framed portrait". I read that as "dartboard". under my plan, a dartboard would be an additional cost. we would open a shutterfly store to give all participants a chance to buy their very own champion portrait to put on a variety of products. i'm sure we can arrange a...

BRAND NEW Maxxis RC-1 slicks 205/50/15

I have a set of four (4) BRAND NEW IN BOX Maxxis RC-1 slick racing tires. They are 205/50/15, 100 treadwear. These are r compound tires and are still DOT stamped for street legality. These are very similar in performance to the Nitto NT-01, but with better/stiffer sidewalls. They grip well in damp /...

Re: bump stop modification? (NC Miata/RX8)

total load transfer is a function of the CG and the track width, no other suspension related factors. so if you increase the front and rear swaybar stiffness proportionally, you are not increasing weight transfer at any wheel, and the vehicle stays flatter. since total load transfer is not affected ...

Re: bump stop modification? (NC Miata/RX8)

Swaybars increase weight transfer at the end they are working at, which decreases weight transfer at the other end. A stiffer rear bar actually causes the inside rear tire to be pulled up or jacked up. So you're actually loading the outside tire MORE heavily with a stiffer swaybar, but you get less ...

Re: bump stop modification? (NC Miata/RX8)

Realize this is a dead thread... but what about swapping the front and rear bump stops? Then you have softer bump stops up front and stiffer ones in the rear.

Re: 2015 Track Season

I'd recommend trying a "hyperdrive" at a NASA event. This is a classroom session and a single track session for $50, and is intended to provide an overview of track days and give you a feel for the experience with a minimal time and financial commitment. "Hyperdrives" are general...
