Re: Results for June 18th at Winchester

I get one yearly. If quality components and tightened competently by the shop it shouldn't move much without lots of potholes, curbs, etc., even with sticky tires. However, sticky tires do tend to wear out tie rod ends, ball joints, wheel bearings, etc., which can impact alignment. After two light s...

Re: Next CDC Autocross Waldorf Sat 7/2/16

Anyone have a car available for a co-drive on Saturday? My FTD Vette from the Winchester event developed a loud squeal in the PM runs and I'm not sure I'm going to have time to diagnose and fix by Saturday.

Re: Results for June 18th at Winchester

Yes. Its hard to practice slaloming on the street. Just try to work on it during upcoming CDC events. Ed and the gang (workers at least) may hate me...but I'd try a drastic change at the next event and try to clip the edge of each cone with the front tire on the 1st and 2nd runs of the AM and then v...

Re: Results for June 18th at Winchester

A few constructive comments on the videos Euro. 1st - you are a long way from the cones through the slaloms and corners. If you didn't have a small E30 that would hurt you exponentially more. You are giving up a lot of time there with a longer and wider line. You could also push quite a bit harder t...

Re: Results for June 18th at Winchester

I personally don't. Its become more of a distraction during an event. I used to when my Harry's Lap Timer app synced better, but its been failing lately when I mount on my harness bar (where I can't tell if on or off) and when I suction cup mount my cell phone to the front window it makes a glaring ...

I'd be happy to take your E30 for a spin some day and see its potential and give you some feedback. Its fun to hop into a different ride.

Re: Results for June 18th at Winchester

What car do you drive? Maybe I can run it at the next event (assuming I'll be in town on the 2nd). I'd actually enjoy giving my Vette a rest. Its been driven hard the last 2 weeks running Cumberland and Winchester and needs some maintenance and parts swapping for upcoming track days in July. Stephen...

Re: How do you compare your improvements vs other people?

Dont get lost chasing your tail for a "sweet spot", especially when you arent throwing all effort at a national championship or something. This is the type of stuff that you can throw a fortune and a lot of time at hammering down to get the last Nth out of. Look for a "close enough&q...

Re: Results for June 18th at Winchester

Jack is a regional class champion (DC Region of SCCA). There are several other regional class champs that run CDC. Mike Moran and Brian Karwan are the only national SCCA champions that routinely run at CDC (with Larry Casey and a few others competing nationally and placing very near the top).

Re: Woodbridge July 12th Results

Yes...what did happen to Osbourne Park? That was another VA venue that wasn't bad. Also, if cost is a concern and the club can accommodate a few more cars we can all probably do a better job of spreading the word around to other autocrossers from other clubs for the next event here...or all buy 2nd ...

Re: Woodbridge July 12th Results

Couple comments. First, congrats to Jay on the win. Second, I like the lot for several reasons - 8 miles from house, bathrooms, good asphalt, good viewing, good proximity to pits. Also the No.VA thing is nice for us VA guys so we don't have to do the long drive elsewhere at least once a year... Thir...

Re: Gm Car Show Sport Chevrolet June 1,2014

Denise,

I think your Vette is becoming bi-polar. At a car show one weekend, then an autocross, then back to a car show. Quite the split personality! :D

But its good to see it out on course. That's where Vette's belong...

They are awesome in an RX8. Local Formula D driver Dan Savage runs a supercharged LSX in his RX8.

Gm Car Show Sport Chevrolet June 1,2014

For anyone interested, the Corvette Club of America and Sport Chevrolet of Silver Springs are hosting a GM Car show on June 1st, 2014. I've linked to the flyer. There will be lots of vettes and many other GM cars if interested in participating or spectating. http://www.corvetteclubofamerica.org/flye...

Re: Proposed Changes in 2014 CDC Autocross Series

Everyone can complain about 1 or more index factors so there will likely never be agreement. There will always be car/tire combos better than others (even in the complex SCCA system). Case in point, my Z06 Vette with 500HP and rather crappy (by performance not cost) 80 wear rated Michelin PSCs index...

Re: Small Bore " Brawl for it All"

Good luck to both of you... Glad I could help hype the "brawl for it all" and tighten up the battle by grabbing 100 points at the last event borrowing Jay & Denise's Miata for a play event... :D Staying out of small bore this time...in fact since my Vette will be in winter storage by t...

You are running very good and consistent this year Eric! Good luck at the next event to all the small bore participants... Re: Harry Grove October 19th Results

I didn't pick up any of my #s so the 2 is probably mine and the 1 and 6 are either in the car still or somewhere on the lot...no big deal. Those are very old magnetics..considering my car panels are fiberglass or carbon fiber I don't have use for them anyway. I'll get static clings for next year. Ag...

Thanks Jay and Denise for letting me run your Miata. Fun little car! :D
and thank you Larry for the fun course.

Here's a link to run 4 (not the fastest, but the most fun run...). Did back to back runs (literally) so the tires were way hot and loose.

Re: Next Autox ($10 discount 2nd slot) 7/13/13 Woodbridge VA

Previous owner did some drag racing...I am suspecting that the CV joint was near its limit when I bought the car (and from what I gather on the C6 forums the C6 CV joint particularly in earlier builds were weaker than the C5 because the C5 vettes exploded lots of pricy differentials at the strip and...

Re: Next Autox ($10 discount 2nd slot) 7/13/13 Woodbridge VA

You can't drive mine Nick....then again I can't drive mine either...darn Winchester event took out an axle half shaft in the Vette ... Fortunately the car made it home in one piece but its pretty clackety with a cracked CV joint :( The downside of 500HP and 345mm rear tires... May be awhile before I...
