kevinatfms wrote: Thu May 17, 2018 9:18 am Does anyone know if a Ford Edge Sport would be allowed to run at any event? I understand the high COG might be a factor in not allowing the SUV to run. This one is the Sport model with AWD if it makes a difference.
We generally do not allow any crossovers to run.

(Any news or updates on getting this lot repaved or filling in some of the cracks/potholes? I'd help with labor/finances here...)
We've got a thread discussing the pothole situation here.

Re: Fixing potholes?

Part of the problem is that the worst pothole (the one I call the "Sarlaac Pit") is a result of the top layer of asphalt delaminating. The pavement is "crocodiled" (read: cracked up) for a large area around that pit. In order to properly repair it, we would have to remove all of ...

I got my current numbers from Race Day Vinyl, but that website isn't around any more. Does anyone have a good source for magnetic numbers?

Re: Proposed Changes in 2014 CDC Autocross Series

Here is my new proposal for the tire index, building on Eric's TW numbers: 1. 101-200TW (R1R, Rivals, RS3, ZII, etc.) (default at registration) - 1.00 2. 50-100TW (RA1, R888, A048) - 1.01 3. <50TW (A6, R6, V710, Z214) - 1.025 4. 201+TW (Lower performance tires, all-seasons) - 0.99 This actually mak...

I disagree. As several have now pointed out, there are a few direct competitors to the Star Specs that have a treadwear of 180.

Re: Proposed Changes in 2014 CDC Autocross Series

I mistakenly posted this on the FB page. I think the cutoff for the second group should be 180 treadwear instead of 200. Several autocross/extreme perofrmace street tires for larger land yachts like Mustangs and Camaros have 180 treadwear (like Goodyear Eagle F1s), yet are on the same "performa...

Re: Star Specs?

I think I've read somewhere that the modern day "extreme performance summer" tires like the Z2 offer similar levels of grip to genuine racing tires from over a decade ago. This brings me back to last year when I was asking Ed to create a "crap" tire class, for the more pedestria...

Re: FRS/BRZ Series??

You definitely shouldn't use the SCCA STX class. Because then my Mustang would be in it. And that wouldn't be fair, because all of the Toyobarus would beat me. Only if you have 9" or narrower wheels and max 265mm tires... My street wheel/tire setup is 18x8s with 255s. I run 285s at most autocr...

Re: Star Specs?

Don't worry about overall diameter unless your running out of gear or lacking power both of which I don't think you have to worry about. I think the 275/35/18 rival would be my choice for the mustang. They will fit fine on an 8 inch wheel with little bulge. In rain sessions you'll be screwed regard...
