Re: Results for Winchester July 27th
Pretty sure my first two runs were OC as well, making it 1/5 on course (not that it matters much, as I'm scored as an organizer). Not sure what it was exactly, but I was just unable to recognize the course approaching the timing tent, even after seeing it 7 times at speed.

Cooling fan interrupt timer mod
A little mod that I came up with that actually works. Temporarily turns off the cooling fan to avoid bogging down the engine during an autocross run. After the run, the timer reactivates the fan after the configured timeout (or if you manually push the button again before the time expires). https://...

Re: 2018 TIRE INDEX ADJUSTMENTS
From the Facebook discussion (which is now quite a mess), there does seem to be some support for having a tire index that accounts for differences between the latest gen 200 TW tires vs the older generation and other extreme performance 200 TW tires. (There was no similar consensus on suspension, so...

Re: 2018 TIRE INDEX ADJUSTMENTS
I think this is a good idea, but I don't quite like the level of model-specificity. When I think of tires, I think of these classes: - R comps - State of the art AX (latest gen) (Rival S, RE71R, RS4, ...?) - Last gen AX and/or "track tires" (RS3, R1R, non-S Rivals, ...?) - All seasons I wo...

Any background info on that photo, Joe? Did it hit something, go off the track and re enter? Or is that just speed plus concrete?

Carbon fiber dash project
So I recently finished a carbon fiber dashboard for our Miata. It was an interesting project which took way longer than I thought it would, but life is about the journey not the destination, right? Anyway, I thought some of you might enjoy seeing the pics and reading about it. https://forum.miata.ne...

Re: Results for October 15th/16th at Harry Grove
Looks like jay scored 1st place for the year. Way to go Jay! Thanks, although at this point it has become pretty clear that our car has an unfair advantage in the current indexing system. Not everyone in the club can make their car into a non-streetable specialized autocross toy. I think I want to ...

Re: How do you compare your improvements vs other people?
Comparing with different cars is only meaningful if both have similar (and consistent) setups. Otherwise one car or the other is going to have an advantage with different course designs. By far the biggest thing that has helped me gauge progress is comparing to other drivers in my car, whether they ...

Thanks Ed. I might give that guy a try, although I am currently debating whether to do a swap, or just remove the dashboard and possibly putting in a lightweight cover like aluminum sheet metal or something.

WTB: 89-94 Miata dashboard (pre-airbag)
I'm looking to buy a dashboard from an early Miata, before they added the airbag (which was 1995 or so I've heard). Looking to install it into my 1996 for weight reduction and simplicity. If you have one or know of one, I would appreciate any info. Thanks.

Excellent! Does the City own the facility? I had assumed that it was privately owned, and if that's the case it's a little surprising that the City would cover it unless it's a partnership kind of deal. In any event, it sounds promising!

Nice driving Alan! I wish I could have figured out that first slalom and the line on the subsequent sweeper as well as you did. None of my runs felt "fast" and I had 3 DNFs, but here's my run of 38.04 sec: https://youtu.be/j3GSFZ3xkDU

Re: April 4th, 2015 Harry Grove Results
There was one result like that the previous event where one run was almost 7 seconds faster than that person's next fastest run. If all runs except that one involved spins, maybe...although a spin usually costs me around 9 sec. Not that it matters much, but it kind of made me wonder if the timing di...

https://www.youtube.com/user/matt270avian/videos My morning runs Your Buick was quite entertaining to watch. For top style points, I'd say it might have been a 3-way tie between you, the one with the green front wheels (Sentra?), and the Challenger/Charger from Saturday. Also, I can't imagine anyon...

Re: March 21st, 2015 Harry Grove Results
Our new suspension was officially broken in on Saturday and Sunday, with 7 drivers for a total of 59 runs! Surprisingly, no one spun the car! (I would have put money on someone spinning it...myself, if not someone else). Thanks to our co-drivers for helping us test it out. We had a scary situation o...

Here in Boyds (just south of Frederick) there is no snow on the pavement and maybe 1-2 inches on the grass as of 5 PM Friday.

Thanks Mike; sounds good. Hopefully the setup won't be too bad. Also I've been trying to get some old friends to come out for over a year, and it sounds like they might drop by. Hopefully I can convince a couple of them to ride along to give them some white knuckles.

Re: March 21st Autox and March 22nd TNT
Looks like we will have 3 available slots, if someone feels like taking a spin in our car (or more likely, multiple spins). It has been aligned and corner balanced and tuned, but the shocks, springs, front sway bar, bushings, ride height, and alignment specs are all different than last year. I have ...

Jeff, no problem. It's interesting to hear one more piece of its history. The car has been great. Denise and I like to tinker with things anyway...this just gave us an excuse.
Jared, I was thinking 15 x 10's but they seem hard to find (in stock).

I hope at some point we can get results into a much more advanced interface so we can incorporate data like this, but only show it when you need to see it. For example, you would hover your mouse pointer over a run (or touch a particular run time on your phone screen) and it would pop up with the i...

Re: Ideas for the 2015 Season
I kind of like the idea of afternoon only... Maybe sacrificing the course walk is the price to pay for that convenience? You could still show up a few minutes early and at least watch a few cars run. That still leaves tech though. PAX index has a problem in that it treats all cars in a class as if t...
