Re: Miata performance alignment in MD/DC/VA Area?

I got another Miata alignment from Ed York last Thursday. He even realigned my rattling exhaust free of charge.
Depending where you are located, it's not too far of a drive. About 35 minutes from COlumbia, MD area. But quite a hike from south of the beltway.

Re: Dyno Day at York Automotive 11/13

I'm going up there on Thursday to have an alignment done on my Miata.

I actually would like to make a dyno pull, but can't make the 11/13 outing. Previous owner of my car says it makes over 200 at the wheels, but I doubt that it makes that much, and would like to confirm it to have a lower index.

Re: SLR camera

Any DSLR will be a huge improvement over your current "blurry" images. Beyond the actual lens & sensor improvements, you will actually be able to see and choose your focus point, shutter speeds, etc. No more blurry shots. I would get the basic kit that comes with the plasticky 18-55 or...

Winchester MD or VA? :P EDIT: there may or may not be a winchester MD... google maps is being oddly cryptic haha. I'm assuming it's VA which is far :(. what's the lot like? The lot is big. It's not too far from Nova. It is pretty far from Columbia. Figure 15 minutes further than the Summit Point lo...

Re: Miata performance alignment in MD/DC/VA Area?

Ed York aligned my miata last month. He does a lot of Miata work. He'll give you an appointment time, so you don't have to sit around and wait and he'll ask you to sit in the car during the alingment so your weight is accounted for. His fee is $89 for an alignment. Not sure what it's for corner weig...

please be aware, it's not like it used to be when CDC ran there.
1/3 of the Washington Circuit is now closed off to autocrossing due to the karting activities that take place regularly on the lot. BMW doesn't get to use the entir lot.

Re: Bowie 5/8

Was Bryan Rut driving a 2010 Sti? Hes got 100-150hp ;) I compare cars to estimate where I am, wondering if he was in a miata which would make total sense. This may explain it: That was my bad. I forgot to use the corrected registration data when I dumped the results from the timing computer. Anothe...

Good event today guys. Nice, tricky course and an extra run thrown in, and we still got out at a decent hour. My face hurts from the wind & sun.

Re: Misc Miata Parts ~~ also some race seats ~~

hey. Thanks for the info. I took a look at the Sparco dimensions page. It's sort of similar to a Sprint 5, in dimensions, which I know I fit inside. ( I test fitted one at the AutoX today). I'm normal size for my height, it's just that some of these seats are made for guys the size of jockeys or F1 ...

Got it "As measured at the driven wheels"
You should use HP measured at the wheels.

I've run on the lower lot. It's dirty, and the pavement is worse. You aren't missing much. I've run it once, and agree. The AWD guys might like it (until they see all the gravel chips on their fenders). For the rest of us, it's an old, disintegrating surface, heavy sloped and didn't add much to the...

The door handle is a tip off that it''s not a Fox Mustang. They don't have the key hole lined up with the door handle.

I'd guess it's an Audi hatchback or old VW 3 door.

just checked the stock size for a 2001 Miata LS
$161 a pop....... I guess those 16" molds must be really expensive?

but it's OK as Dunlop StarSpecs are only $107 and still give me $50 rebate :)

I'm not sure what the Dan K style carrier is, but if you are talking about RA1s, you can just drive on them..... if you are talking V710s not so much. I have some "plans" for my Miata. Namely a new FM suspension has been sitting in my foyer for some time, and I need to switch out the seat ...

Is this the one that used to be called " Panther Plus" ? If so, it's very good for autoX. Strong enough to easily lock up your tires, unlike most stock pads. Quiet, fade free on AutoX, so/so bite on first application. After that very good. Plenty of dust. Make sure to clean it off your whe...

Try to talk to the guy in charge ( Jeremy Jens? John Felton?) and tell them about your autoX experience etc. If you know anyone who instructs with TrackDaze or NASA, and they can vouch for your driving skill/experience, mention that to them as well. RA1 would be considered an R-comp, but rules are m...

Another good group to run with is Trackdaze

Lots of track time. More relazed atmosphere than NASA because it's just HPDE and there is not a race weekend happening at the same time.
