How fast is Winchester?
Its hard to justify when Susq. SCCA is running at Hershey (which is HUGE) and isn't much further than Winchester for most. Its probably closer for some of the Frederick guys.

The 180 followed by an uphill WOT slalom was miserable in a car with ~100hp. I agree the squared off loop was not fun.Wade Chamberlain wrote: I really liked the initial loop, the 180° single cone turn, the wide-open slalom, and even the finish. The squared off loop....not so much.

Tires are Dunlop G/T Qualifiers. They have ~5k miles on them. Tons of tread left. If I were smarter I would daily these for the next 3-4 eternities, but I'm an idiot and run ST tires on the street. Wheels are in good shape but dirty. One has a small curb mark that was touched up with flat black. htt...

These have been sitting for a few years. Good cheap R-comp to burn away at the track. $25 for the pair. Can deliver to a Bowie event, or a WDCR/AI Autox. To be fair, AJ's Civic isn't a spec 89 Si, and Mark's Miata isn't an S2K, NC, or NB, so using pax is a tad flawed anyway.eage8 wrote: (my car is completely under prepped for SMF)

Re: 5/7 CDC AX at Bowie, MD
Had fun at this event. It's the first chance I've had to see the new timing system from the computer... Joe truly did a great job. I love the real-time display anyone can walk up and check. 3rd run in the morning was my best with a 41.52. Though my very last run was just 1 hundredth of a second slow...

-Line the edges of this portion with flour/chalk (I have never seen this done in practice and find it largely unnecessary, but it would have reduced the amount of cones and made the course easier to follow. ) This was done @ the FingerLakes event. Before that event I would have agreed with you, but...

Re: Format improvement ideas for Autocross day.
they were a stop gap "passive restraint system" before the transition to air bags in all new cars. My least favorite set up was like on GM cars like the Beretta where the seat belt was tied to the door and as you sat down and closed the door you were "buckled in." Of course the ...

Re: July 25th Woodbridge Autox
No, not 2 hours straight. Probably more like an hour and a half I guess. Then again at Fedex on Sun. I didn't work anywhere near 2 hours. I guess I'd much rather get my working done in one lump sum rather than split it up and waste extra time sitting around. Yes, working heat 4 does blow @ SCCA. Reg...

Re: July 25th Woodbridge Autox
He said he got 4 runs in and had to work for two hours. I said "You paid $45 for that?" Well, in the SCCA's defense (going to get banned for this...), those 4 runs are generally much longer than CDC runs. Yesterday was a short course and the runs were in the mid-50 second range. Longer co...

Re: Format improvement ideas for Autocross day.
I like the idea, but I also heard it worded very simply on Saturday: Report immediately to the timing tent after your morning runs. You will be handed your timesheet, and given a work assignment. If you don't show within an appropriate amount of time (2 mins from last run or so), your timesheet is r...

Re: work assignments
One big grid, might be OK now. Come July & August, it's going to lead to long ( 90 minutes ?) standing in the sun for everyone. I don't know how much people can take before they start to complain about that. A) There are FREE beverages. B) It will get them out of there an hour earlier at the en...

Re: SLOW DOWN!!
I wasn't suggestion change the size of the grid. At HG, lets just say you can grid 15 cars. Run all 15 in a row, instead of 7 then 8. They may not line up in a row, but you can treat both lines as a single grid as opposed to splitting them into A/B.

Re: SLOW DOWN!!
I really don't see how it would be hard at all to keep track of workers. This isn't rocket science. bugman's suggestion would work fine. I'm sure there are numerous other ways as well - one of which is to simply eliminate the totally unnecessary split-heat design, and go with Heat 1 works 2, 2 works...
