FS: 1997 turbo Miata

Up for sale is my 1997 Miata. It's been turbo'd since 2008, if I recall. It recently had a new drivetrain put in (JDM 2001 Miata w/ 45,000 km) w/ a 6-speed. Over last winter, I had the body patched up (someone struck a front fender while parked on my street) so I had the front freshened up w/ a new ...

FS: Factory Five MK1 Cobra (Moran's old one)

So, as much as I love the car, it's time to say goodbye. It was a great couple of years! However, family life kicks in (2 kids, mortgage) and having 2x 2-seaters isn't practical. I wish I could keep it, but right now have to look at other priorities. You may recall it was the burgundy w/ white strip...

Re: Winchester August 9th Results

Man, that was fun! At first I was hesitant about bringing the Cobra and ended up happy that I did. It was good to get comfy with the tail-happy nature the way it was setup and the tires I drove on. It reacted totally different than the Miata when trying to reel it in. That course was really nice! It...

Did you find anyone? I think I may tackle the rocker rust on my Miata this year.

Re: Winchester events - BBQ?!

Thanks for the feedback, guys! Rob is definitely taking notes about what people liked and didn't like. He definitely had to rush towards the end in order to meet the lunch timeframe. He said next time he will start around 2 a.m. instead of 4 a.m. Rest assured, probably never see sugar like that agai...

Re: Winchester events - BBQ?!

Thanks for all the feedback, folks!

Anyone else? Good, bad, etc?

Rob has promised vast improvements in the future: start earlier, layout the sauces and sides better, etc.

Please offer up suggestions! Once again, sorry to anyone that wanted some that didn't get any.

Re: Winchester events - BBQ?!

I hope he brings the Barbeque back... and more of it.... if that was not as good as the first time which I missed.... we need another test to see if that was just an anomaly.... I agree the sausage and chicken should be cooked separate.... a simple suggestion..... Cook the ribs and pork butt the da...

Re: Winchester events - BBQ?!

^ Thanks, Ed! That's the kind of write up/feedback he is looking for. I've had his ribs a lot and there are times when they weren't as tender or smoky. He mentioned doing the ribs and pork shoulder together in the main smoker, then smoking the sausage and chicken together since the smoking times/tem...

Re: Winchester events - BBQ?!

Okay, feedback time... First off, Rob apologized for the ribs not being as good as last time. He mentioned that juggling the different meats that early in the morning caused 10 extra minutes each time he opened the smoker door. Then he had to bump up the temp to finish in time. Also, I heard through...

YES!!! CDC bbq battle. Winner gets 8 passes. How do i become a judge? If transportation is an issue, perhaps cdc should do a car rally. We tour each bbq. Nothing like a 40 minute drive to get me ready to down another rack of ribs. Count me in for a BBQ Rib cook off..... any rules... when??? Extra L...

Re: Winchester events - BBQ?!

***UPDATE*** Rob has the following: 11 racks of ribs = 22 1/2 racks at $10 per half 2 pork shoulders for chopped pork sandwiches (amazing!) - about 30 x $6 sandwiches (choice of 2 sauces) 16 chicken quarters with his famous Texas rub (phenomenal) - $5 each! couple dozen smoked sausages (butcher mad...

Re: Winchester events - BBQ?!

Rob's finalizing prices and food items...but good news, Franklin! It looks like he will have 11 full racks which he will sell 1/2 racks at $10-11 each. If you want to commit to one, find me. It will be a first-come, first-serve until gone. These are the best ribs I've had locally and the price is de...

Re: Winchester events - BBQ?!

Hi all, Only 2 weeks away! I spoke with Rob last week and it sounds like ribs may not be on the menu b/c of real estate. However, the rest of the BBQ is awesome and a better bang-for-the-buck I think. If he does some ribs, it would only take up a shelf or two on his smoker. I'll coordinate with Rob ...

Noted!

I figure the sides that would hold up the best would be potato salad, mac-n-cheese, beans, slaw for sammiches (or as a side).

Re: Winchester events - BBQ?!

I think Rob's menu will look something like this: 1/4 chicken = $6 chopped pork sandwich = $5-6 1/2 rack of ribs = $10-11 (no price break on full-racks unless there are some left around 1 p.m.) Also, did folks want sides? I suggested just offering a scoop of slaw, bean or potato salad (bucket store ...

What about an "All In" class? Basically, for the top dogs with the best cars. No holds barred. No indexes. The incentive? Biggest trophy or swag or something worth going for. Also, for the slowest time at each event, there should be a humiliation thing at the end...or loser buys first roun...

Winchester events - BBQ?!

Hi all, My old neighbor, Rob, was inquiring about BBQing at some of our events again. He said Winchester would be really convenient and would bring his smoker or smoke at home and bring the goods. For those that enjoyed his BBQ at Winchester, he would probably smoke a lot more racks of ribs, have pu...

Kirkey 15" seat with rails

Selling the old driver's seat from the Factory Five Roadster (burgundy with white stripes, formerly the Moran's). Best offer It was a bit snug for me, so I got a 17" seat. The cloth is a bit worn, but replaceable (skin that you remove from the aluminum frame). Call me since I don't check the fo...

Bump for a great Miata guy!

Braineack (Scott) has autocrossed with us in the past. He's been a huge supporter in the turbo'd Miata community and is local.
