1994 1.8L Miata Engine w/ ~120K Miles

Strong 1994 motor w/ factory 1.8 flywheel and clutch. Timing belt, tensioner and idler pulley, cam seals, plugs done less than 10K miles ago. Unknown age on the water pump. Needs a new rear main seal as it does drip some oil through the weep hole in the transmission. While it is out I would do the f...

Re: Trackdaze next weekend

I was there as well. Here was my fastest session (1:31.25) Looks pretty good. It's been suggested to me to go from 5-3 going into turn 1 rather than 5-4-3 FWIW. It made things a little calmer/smoother for me and let me give more attention to braking. I skip the in between gears too. It is much more...

Re: Trackdaze next weekend

I was going to go to the event today but they cancelled it. Only had six people register :( At least I got my money back as the car is in pieces in the garage until the mail man gets here.

Re: Where do you get your tires mounted?

Apparently the mounting machines take a huge amount of air that I don't think my 30gal compressor could put out. Meathead racing racing runs their basic machine off of a ~30 gallon Craftsman oilless compressor. Expect the compressor to cycle once per wheel. I think the machine that Meathead has onl...

Re: James Wood HS July 28 Results

I used that app I was playing with all day yesterday to create this video of my best run. It's got speed, acceleration, and COURSE POSITION overlayed on the video. Sweet! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9PbjB9UvAko The acceleration data is off in a lot of places. What app, GPS receiver, and refresh ...

Re: James Wood HS July 28 Results

There is an 05 Lotus Elise in small bore. They have variable valve timing and/or lift on both cams. The folks in the points race probably care about that.

Re: Enkei RPF1 source?

He kept insisting that I would never notice the weight difference and that they were a little on the delicate side for track use. The offset on the RPF1s is also not as good. I was shopping Team Dynamics against the RPF1s. I have used the RPF1s on the track for a couple weekends and I never had issu...

Re: Enkei RPF1 source?

Radial Tire can get them, but they need to be ordered so it may end up taking just as long. Paul will try to talk you out of buying them though. He managed to talk me out of a second set. I'm still not sure how I feel about that.

Re: TrackDaze HPDE @ Summit Main on July 7-8, 2012

Hard to tell, but it looks like you (the driver) were out braking the Civic (who may have been checking up because of the Miata), but the Civic walked you from turn-in on. Did you have to check up to avoid hitting him entering the turn? That first Vet was a little off line going into 10 because of t...

Re: TrackDaze HPDE @ Summit Main on July 7-8, 2012

(But strangely, i was able to close in on EVERYTHING, including prepped corvettes and spec miatas, going into turn 1... even with shoddy tires). Needless to say, I didn't get into many close battles (unlike trackdaze hpde events in the upper intermediate group) You sure that isn't the illusion of t...

Let me know how that goes. I'm curious if taking off work is worth it for these events. What program/track is the $180 price point?
