Re: Summit Point Track Day October 20th

Busy but fun day overall. Only one incident but a bad one. An instructor went off in a Z06 Corvette so far into the woods that you could not see any of the car from the track. He has a broken back (two places), fractured ribs, bruised heart and concussion. :(

I'll be there this weekend. I would not expect the track surface to be all that great but at least the weather will be.

Re: Summit Point Main Track

I like the 888 better. No full tread depth squirm and they are more linear when sliding. I will be instructing at the Oct NASA event. Barrie will be there as well.

Re: Summit Point Track Day October 20th

I am instructing at this event. Anyone else going? Saw this on the Focus site I am on all the time thought some of you guys might be interested. Good afternoon all. Lindsay Cadillac is hosting an open track day on Summit Point’s main circuit, October 20th for all to attend. The $260 entry fee includ...

Re: Improvements for CDC Indexing for 2009

Mike, It does not really matter, it could be set up either way. You could have an XP class that is like a stock class for uber fast cars (atoms, ZR1s, GT2 etc) and then also consider whether that car is stock or heavily modified. So a stock Corvette ZR1 would be XP while a ZR1 with EM, pulleys for i...

Re: Improvements for CDC Indexing for 2009

We could probably use XP, SS, AS, BS, CS, DS, ES, FS, GS, and HS. Throw in a couple mod modifiers (bolt-on and heavy mod) and tire modifiers (street and r-comp) and we are done. If we use SCCA stock classes, where do the Cobras go, or do we include XP in the stock classes and remove any modifier for...

Re: Improvements for CDC Indexing for 2009

I personally do not think we need any special trophies or rewards to encourage people to autoX. Autox is it's own reward. I autoX for both the fun and competition, not to keep adding little trophies, toys and awards to my trophy self. I don't have any problem with CDC having special awards and troph...

Re: Improvements for CDC Indexing for 2009

Gonz's post about the SCCA PAX being wrong so they have to change it is not quit correct. The SCCA takes the results from over 200 autoX per year and adjusts the Index and classes every year based on the results. The SCCA PAX system is a dynamic system that changes every year to reflect the fact tha...

Re: Improvements for CDC Indexing for 2009

just for giggles, here is my original modified SCCA Index system proposal cut from earlier threads: "For those of you not familiar with the SCCA PAX system, the SCCA looks at the actual results of over 200 events every year. Stock cars are placed in classes depending on how well they do. The st...

Re: Improvements for CDC Indexing for 2009

That is completely unmanageable. We can barely get 10 organizers to show up for a dinner meeting much less 250+ CDC autox competitors to show up for a "dyno day" Plus, requiring a dyno to autoX completely defeats the idea. No autoX club that exists requires a car to be dynoed. You can't us...

Re: Improvements for CDC Indexing for 2009

You can't use "advertised hp at the crank" because that becomes meaningless as soon as someone drops a turbo into their engine bay or adds engine/boost management to an OEM FI setup. You have to start taking account what mods are on a vehicle. The current system actually works pretty well....

Re: Improvements for CDC Indexing for 2009

Ted's modified SCCA Index system? I thought I was the one who created, posted and argued for the "Modidfied stock class SCCA system? Anyway, it does not matter, there is too much anti-SCCA sentiment at CDC to ever see my proposed Index system implemented. But in the future, if CDC changes the i...

Re: Improvements for CDC Indexing for 2009

Here we go again. One goal we probably should try to reach is to NOT have a new index system every season. The current system , while a staggering step forward over the original index system IMHO, has many faults. If we started an analysis of every CDC competitors car, tried to take into account all...

Just the usual old RA-1s. I have been trying out 888s but I left them at home for this event.

Re: Summit Point August 17th

Redline may have used Shenandoah because it is cheaper. They only had 10 instructors. Shenandoah only has a single turn with run-off so it can be a costly track to run on. I have about ~30 days on Shenandoah and have had a few offs (no damage) but in general you have to hold back at many places to k...

Re: Summit Point August 17th

That is quick. I ran a 1:45 a few months back but could only manage low 1:48s last weekend. :| Yea I was tracking down the results from last year and found where I had run some 1/47's the first day. By the time we were done running timed runs on Sunday I had 3 tires that were down to the cords in a ...

Offset of wheels, centerbore size, lug number and spacing? I'm not planning on running my Neon on the track anymore so it's time to get rid of my trackday/auto-x tires. (4) 205-50-15 Yoko A032-R (H compound), unmounted, no "camber" wear, tread even with wear bars (~2/32?) $160 obo http://p...

Fun event but way too hot and I never could hit the course the way I wanted. 37.95 was my best time. This is only my 3-4 autoX of the season due to all the scheduling conflicts with HPDEs. I will finally probably will get some suspension mods (coilovers) so I can get additional front camber, I am si...

Re: Pop Up Canopy on Sale at Home Depot $50

Cool, thanks. Thanks. I got one, it looks decent and comes with a wheeled carrying case. It does not come with tent pegs/spikes which are nice on windy days. I think we have a bunch of extra spikes from all the tents that we've gone thru (about 1 a year). I'll look in the trailer this week/weekend. ...
