Re: Woodbridge

I wasn't planning on attending Woodbridge events since they are so far from my house, but I just might have to make the trip for the next one. The lot definitely has some potential. Many thanks to Dave for letting me drive his Miata, and Larry for letting me drive his Cobra. And no thanks to Ben for...

Re: SLOW DOWN!!

I really don't see how it would be hard at all to keep track of workers. This isn't rocket science. bugman's suggestion would work fine. I'm sure there are numerous other ways as well - one of which is to simply eliminate the totally unnecessary split-heat design, and go with Heat 1 works 2, 2 work...

In my opinion, it is a necessary enforcement and use of our time in order to keep the events fun. The dedicated folks are the ones we want to keep happy, and this makes their lives easier.

Re: 6/13 Summit Point

Well, I forgot that I signed up with street tires, so my index "win" is not valid. I already emailed Ed, though, so it should be fixed soon. All the Morans will be switched to full race tire index.

Auto-x Course Design Poll

As I start designing courses for CDC, I find myself struggling with a difficult choice in the parking lots we have available. I am curious what the majority of club members would prefer. edit: added another option for folks who don't care either way. disclaimer: This poll does not directly affect an...

I don't believe there are any CCRs in the US. I thought we only had a handful of CCXs.

Re: Test and Tunes

Alright. I was considering this before, and since you guys are requesting it I will make it happen. I just need to fix the brakes on my truck and we can do it. I have looked over the Mid-A Auto-x calendar on NASIOC and found a few possible dates in June/July that don't conflict with many local event...

Re: May 9th event at Summit Point

One of the first things the STis change in AStock is adding the stiffest front swaybar they can find. The reason is that the Subaru's suspension loses negative camber as it compresses. More front body roll = more positive camber. In this case, a super-stiff front bar improves grip by keeping the cam...

Re: May 9th event at Summit Point

I really need to get either stiffer springs in the rear or stiffer rear sway....probably both...to get my car to rotate again. In my experience, understeer is best dealt with at the front end. You can stiffen the rear springs or sway, but ultimately you are reducing your rear traction so that it br...

Re: Summit skidpad

I agree as well. I like that everyone (especially newcomers) get a break and a chance to learn a bit before going at the course for a second session. Unfortunately, this format does not lend itself well to the TSP. The venue is so large that worker/heat changeovers take considerably longer. It helpe...

Re: Summit skidpad

We definitely want to hear everyone's opinion on the event and what they would suggest for another auto-x at this lot. The future is really up in the air, and we need feedback to help us proceed. Personally (Disclaimer: This is not the view of the club in general), I thought it was a complete mess b...

Re: 04/04/09 Bowie Auto-x

I'm glad so many people appreciated what I was trying to accomplish (A long, flowing section with no 180-degree turns). We pulled it off, but I was always disappointed at what I had to do in the upper lot to create that. We could have widened those 180s a little more, but it would just make the turn...

I don't know about 250+ all being the same. Yeah, he brought that over shortly after the tune and let me drive it. :D His torque band is certainly improved, but I am anxious to see how it affects his performance next year. One thing I have learned from upgrading a turbo Subaru is more power = more ...

Re: Improvements for CDC Indexing for 2009

Ed, I agree that the small-bore series should be about cheap racing. That's why I think you guys should ban r-compounds from that. You can use the same criteria for the standard index that determines what an r-compound is (usually anything under 140 tread wear). So any tire with 140 or higher tread ...

Re: Six CDC Autocrosses at Summit Point in 2009

They are pretty close. I used satellite images from google maps, scaled them in CAD according to the scale provided by google, and then traced the outline of the lot. It's not perfect, but it works for visualizing the lot sizes. Harry Grove is actually a decent amount of pavement for one lot. The li...
