Re: Suggestion: Team Event Day
We could hire a bookie and have him give odds on which Cobra will be the fastest. I'm not really into the bracket racing idea. Wouldn't that encourage potentially slowing down to win? I want my tires to give their all or die trying. If we use raw times, may as well cast a Cobra on the trophy. We cou...

Re: Feedback from the miata guys...
This weekend I watched an early Miata launch and slip it's right/rear tire until it crossed the first gate. A Miata doesn't have that much power, so I'd guess it had an open diff. My early Miata had the viscous limited slip that made some difference, but the torsen makes a very noticable improvement...

Re: Bowie June 2nd Results
Is the fastest time for the 2005 bmw 330ci correct? Based on the times from the other five runs, it seems out of place. May be a manual timing error? That does seem odd. I checked the run log and there were no big time gaps between runs during that group. This was during the second heat when we sta...

Re: Bowie June 2nd Results
When I was checking the results, I'll admit to doubting Mike's best run. Then I remembered the Corolla he drove was built by Mazda.
Glad to hear the turbo will be replaced. Seeing how fast an aftermarket turbo can be is making me look forwarrd to my cute little MazdaSpeed turbo giving up the ghost.

Sorry for all the timing weirdness in the morning. We were trying out a completely new set of equipment at start and the computer USB port occasionally stopped working. It should be fixed before the next event and we'll have a backup ready just in case.

Re: Harry Grove March 17th Results
It's pretty hard sometimes to know how long the course will be when designing it. Originally when we saw how extensive the dirt was, Larry thought we'd have to move the start/stop to a completely different part of the lot. After changing back to the original, we were a little late testing the course...

Re: Harry Grove March 17th Results
One of the other organizers will have to chime in to confirm this but i'm pretty certain that the over 350hp "class" is still there however it now has the same index as the "new" over 250 hp class. I'm not sure if the plan is to completely do away with that over 350hp "clas...

Re: Driver Numbers
I cut numbers out of thin magnetic rubbery material and slap those on the doors. The stuff isn't too expensive. I think MJDesigns has it. The club may even have some available. For extra credit. put your bar code stickers on those and tape over them with clear mailing tape.

Re: WTT: Miata 5 spd/4.3 torsen for Miata 6spd/3.9 torsen
I'm seriously considering putting the 3.63 diff from a Miata SE into my MazdaSpeed. With the 4.1 diff, 1st doesn't do much, 2nd is way to short for autocross, and Interstate cruising is over 3600 rpms. Corksport sells just the gear set for $629, Many MazdaSpeed guys swap in the 5-speed for the bette...

Re: Should Greater than 250 HP be the top Index?
This thread brings out the giggle monster. I know there is a bunch of hate for SCCA on here...but do you guys want to revisit using the SCCA index? That will take all the work out of it for you. Don't mistake not wanting to use the SCCA system with general dislike of the SCCA. But no, I hope that h...

Re: Should Greater than 250 HP be the top Index?
FWIW, I agree that having over 350 hp doesn't help much on most CDC courses, particularly in a Cobra where the chassis appears to reward skill over full-on power. Some AWD platforms *may* benefit more, but I haven't seen it. I tried Liam's EVO once. Full throttle made it difficult to keep the car on...

With any luck, Ed's TR6 will reappear next year. It may not look like much, but it's got it where it counts. I'm making a lot of special modifications myself.

Re: What occurs at Tech Inspection?
We also check for corded tires (doubtful at 6k miles, but you never know ;)). I visually check brakes for scoring, but can't check for pad thickness. I think someone mentioned emptying out your car *before* pulling up to tech, but I'll say it again. Even small stuff flying around inside a car (like ...

Re: 2008 Mini (Non S) small bore?
Ed can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the original idea was for small bore to be for cars like AH Sprites, Spitfires, MGs, and maybe an occasional CRX HF. You guys with those massive 1.8 liter cars should feel lucky you weren't excluded. ;) Maybe we need a new trophy for the original small b...

Re: engine rebuild & body work shops
Larry at C & M doesn't like to do partial rebuilds. They probably will, but he likes to know a motor won't be coming back soon. The building looks like it's going to fall down (unless they have moved in the last 10 years), but they are honest and do good work. Probably not the cheapest, but you ...

Good call on the no-show. Cracked ribs hurt like hell and take longer to heal if you keep straining them. Besides, it was nice seeing someone besides you or Wade take FTD.
