Re: Andy Hollis's Top Ten Auto-x Driving Tips

What really throws me off is when one of the workers is playing with a red flag, and I see it in the corner of my eye. That kinda freaks me out, then I lose concentration. X_X If I'm manning the flag I always make sure I keep it tightly rolled up and, if I'm thinking, held behind my back or behind ...

Re: RDV: Autocross Number/Class Magnets now available! (CHEAP!)

I just had defylogik make me up a batch of decals for our 'race' operation and they came out awesome, far better than I expected. The price was right and he had the job turned around and in my hands in very little time, too. Two thumbs up for this operation!

Nice stuff but too old! Would love seeing some pics from the late 60s/early 70s when my dad ran Lime Rock, Thompson, Watkins Glen and Bryar

Re: Bowie 8/29 pics & vid

I put up 20+ photos from Bowie into the CDC pool. I thought it was a great course, I only spaced once and got an OC for my first run of the afternoon, other than that no difficulties here. People have been telling me that CDC folks are good people and now that I've seen it in person I have to agree....

Re: 8/29 Bowie

If I put my hardtop on today, that'll guarantee no rain tomorrow. Worked last week.

FWIW the wife had to cancel out for tomorrow (she has to prep for next week's work trip) but I'll still be there. Look for the skinny geek in the goofy hat and say hi.

Re: 8/29 Bowie

Me and the missus signed up for Bowie as well in our dueling white Miatas so we're looking forward to our CDC debut, only something like three years after I first inquired about getting into autocross. We've done a handful since our first in the spring and could really use all the run time we can ge...

Re: Miata Suspension

Here's one data point from a wannabe member I've got a 99 that was sport suspension. The previous owner took the stock Bilsteins and sent them out to get revalved to R specs and to me that was a very hard ride (previous owner was a fairly serious stock class WDCR autocrosser; I'm far from). When one...

Re: vintage auto-x pictures

Someone sent me a pic of my dad autocrossing in the early '60s when he was quite active in the Albany NY area. Guess they didn't require helmets back then.

Re: How to tell if a miata has LSD?

Call Mazda corporate (1-800-222-5500) with the VIN and they'll tell you what the car came with when it left the factory. If you want to get down and dirty there's a differential spotters guide on miata.net: http://www.miata.net/garage/diffguide/index.html If you're really bored you can read about ou...

Re: Cancelled - November 15th CDC AutoX Bowie, MD

I'm kinda glad of the cancellation, I don't like driving Miatas in the rain on the street much less in anger.

I'd like to play in December if my calendar allows.

Re: Want to get into this

Holy cow that wagon is epic. Many years ago the local car club (this is up in western Mass.) had an autocross where the guys made a pact to keep their MGBs and X1/9s home and instead bring the family cars. So instead of the fun stuff my dad and the others were flogging their full-size Chevy wagons a...

Want to get into this

The last time I autocrossed was in 1990 and I drove a 1977 Honda Civic. So it's been a while. It's something I've kicked around getting back into for a few years now. I inquired a few years back when I had a Tiburon but never followed through. Now me and the missus have managed to acquire some Miata...
