I think you misunderstand. No matter what you do fast drivers in fast cars will win even if you completely ignore raw times and base finishing position solely on a PAX adjusted time.Gonz wrote:one or two voices in the crowd don't want to change because "it will allow fast drivers in fast cars to win.

Re: INDEX SYSTEM
Pardon me for playing devil's advocate for a moment, but cheating IS a rampant issue in virtually every form of motorsports, from go-karts on up to F1. Some of it is seemingly benign while other times it is intentional and deliberate. Cheating includes incidents like, "Whoops! Sorry, I forgot t...

Crazy 425-hp Triumph Spitfire
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a128/04A8/Carscoop_TRiumph_Skyline_1.jpg Talk about globalization; this guy took the pride (…) of British roadsters, a 1976 Triumph Spitfire and stuffed it with Japan’s iconic R31 Nissan Skyline RB20 powertrain. According to the fella that’s selling the pimped road...

Those super hypothetical SCCA PAX results tell me that fast drivers in fast cars still win. Big surprise! What would be interesting to see the delta between the CDC handicap and the SCCA PAX, e.g. Fred Kelley 0, Mike Moran -4, Slava +15, etc.

Autumn Scenic Drive
Anybody interested in going for a scenic drive? A few years ago Toby and I went for a nice drive in MD through Montgomery and Frederick counties. I don't remember the exact route but we took River Road to Dickerson and around Sugarloaf Mt. up to Gambrills State Park and Cunningham Falls and the Cato...

Re: Parking Lot Suggestions Wanted
I've often thought of RFK. There is some resistance to it within the club because of the surrounding neighborhood. I've been to several "ride and drive" exhibitions there so I asked the person who organized the event how much it cost to rent lot 6 and 7 (the old GPW circuit) and I was told...

Re: Parking Lot Suggestions Wanted
NCCBMWCCA uses that Skykesville lot but it's too far away for most of us (organizers at least since we already have to wake up at 5am to get to Manassas or Frederick by 7am). Maybe we can get some members from further north to host events and recruit new members from Baltimore and southern PA? We ne...

I've updated the forum software from phpBB3 RC5 to RC7. Accordingly, I've got to redo many of the mods. The RSS feed will be back up soon. Also, I'm working on harmonizing the graphics and making the header image link back to the main website. Ideally, the header would include our standard navigatio...

Karting on the Isle of Man
Okay, so it's a typical grainy YouTube clip, and even appears to be black and white on first blush, but sit back and enjoy it for what it is and you won't be disappointed. Take a blast around the Isle of Man on a go-kart. In the rain. As you'll discover, even with these minuscule motors, passing ca...

Re: Timing Equipment
Are the start and finish separate triggers or do you have to select the stop watch they go to? No, start and stop send the same signal. They are not unique. So if a car crosses the start light and then 20 seconds later another car crosses the start before the first car has finished the timer will s...

I think that is a generous offer. Hopefully, we can implement a system that requires little to no manual data entry and that calculates the results automatically. But developing that system takes time/effort. Calling all computer programmers! All computer programmers to the forum please!

The index system can be discussed in isolation but in reality everything in the organization is interrelated. I think Ed became overworked long ago but soldiers on because the club has grown to the extent it has and taken on such great meaning with so many people that he feels he can't let him down....
