Re: Registration Open for the March 30th Auto-x Season Opener

Not that it actually mattered, since the Kraut-Sled was pushing like a wicked bastard in the morning, but I was scored off course on a run where I was clean and in, all the way 'round. That happened to me at an event last year when I was absolutely sure I had a clean run. It also happened to my fri...

Re: Registration Open for the March 30th Auto-x Season Opener

Travis I was saying to a newcomer yesterday to watch you carefully, that you're a good example of what a well driven small bore car on street tires can do. I hope we haven't shatter the noob's dreams if he reads this... but you got some nice times anyway. Ted Thanks :D The embarrassing part is Loga...

Re: Timing trailer???

I'll be the first to say that sitting more than 2 people gets very uncomfortable. Especially ingress/egress. Not to mention the amount of storage available in anything short of a Dodge sprinter is going to be laughable in comparison to the trailer the club currently has. I'd say converting the trail...

You should practice in the off season like I do. Every couple of days I find an empty parking lot, walk out to the middle, and stand there for a couple hours. :)

GRM challenge. You can fit a LOT of motor in that engine bay. And being a somewhat rare car, some of the parts still on it may be worth something.

4 Falken Azenis RT615 225/45-17 2 good, 2 with camber wear

$125 for all 4? The 2 with camber wear would still be good as autox tires.. the outside shoulder is still in good condition. The other 2 should be good as autox/dd/whatever. Pickup only. http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a216/ProDarwin/th_Azenisall.jpg http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a216/ProDarwi...

Re: What was your winter project?

I did 2 major overhauls last year during the season (new bushings, bearings, balljoints and tie rod ends... then used engine, coil overs, front swaybar), so for the winter there wasn't a tremendous amount of work to do. Done: -oil pan that doesn't leak -an abundance of used tires -a single set of ne...

Re: Informal Awards Lunch and the New Index System

2) Not as significant as people like to believe. Have you been watching the SCCA debate over this stuff in STX? STU already allows more tire on non-AWD cars for this reason. Not saying we need a multiplier - most CDC cars are not as well prepped as the high end SCCA cars. But its definitely signifi...

Re: Informal Awards Lunch and the New Index System

I show up driving whatever I want, prepped however I like, and I autocross. I know full well if I've had a good day or bad day behind the wheel by comparing my times to a few other cars that I learned to use as benchmarks. Nothing is preventing anyone from doing this with the new system. But for th...

Re: Informal Awards Lunch and the New Index System

For the most part, any tire with a wear rating of 200 or below. Also I believe the new Bridgestone tire that is super soft after being shaved. Ed, don't you think that is a little absurd? Pretty much the only autocross tire anyone uses that doesn't fall into that category is the Kumho MX. Falken Az...

Re: INDEX SYSTEM

So giving new drivers a handicap doesn't make sense?? This club heavily relys on getting newbies interested in sticking with autocross. Actually Ed, you don't give driver's a handicap for their first event. The index is actually a huge penalty, because everyone starts dead last in the index, as opp...

Re: INDEX SYSTEM

Ooops, I made a math error (removed 4 events of mine even though I missed 2). New spreadsheet here: http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pbrH6clYsDRHv4z0tzYPrFg Drop the lowest 4 scores, and before the index Ed is winning by ~4.7%, afterwards that number jumps to 6.05%. 1.25% is still a significan...

Re: INDEX SYSTEM

What I'm trying to show is the how the index can artificially increase or decrease a persons score in comparison to their raw. After dropping 4 events, Ed is leading me by 2.8% raw. After adding index times into that (which are entirely based off raw times throughout the season) he beat me by 4%. Th...
