Re: TIRES

I'm not saying put an interior back in and go to CSP. That sounds like a huge pain and you'd have to track down all the little pieces to remain CSP legal. However, the difference between CSP and DP is not slight even though that may be the perception. For starters... minimum weight is somewhere aro...

Re: TIRES

You sure on those spring rates? Didn't Ed York set the car up? If so that's backwards from every other miata I've ever seen. Unless someone goofed and accidentally put the front springs on the rear of the car. Jesus christ that car is going to be fast if you get the spring rates sorted... PM me if ...

Re: TIRES

Joe, sounds good but we recently bought a set of used RS3 v2's (225/45/15) from Andy. He said they had about 80 runs on them from Nationals and some regional events. Considering the set that we recently retired had 330 runs (yes I kept a spreadsheet) this set should last us for a few months. The one...

Re: TIRES

As far as the other tires (if you find them in a size that works) RS3(v2), Very good tire, its a front runner. Mainly shines in hot conditions and falls a hair flat in the cold. Rival, Very good tire, not the best on concrete (not an issue for CDC stuff), good middle of the road option, will be edg...

Re: Harry Grove October 25th/26th Results

Thanks Joe. Joe Oxenham drove very well also. We swapped cars, and we figured there was about a 1.2 - 1.4 second difference between our cars on that course, which makes his T&T results even more impressive. My 12th run from Saturday: http://youtu.be/-_29D4Jcj4A

Re: Waldorf October 11th Results

Alan, it was nice to meet you and Kate. Thanks for the consultations on the R1Rs. I was driving too aggressively with them in my first 5 runs, and was frustrated because they have a very different feel than the RS3's (much more subtle when they start to slip). I dialed back the aggression for my 6th...

Re: Next CDC AutoX - Sat Sept 27th Waldorf, MD

It seemed like the event went smoothly, and the weather was great! The course was fast and fun, and quite technical to handle at speed. I may have overestimated the amount of traction I had a few times, and I apologize for the many cones that were murdered as a result. Here's my best run, followed b...

Re: Harry Grove September 13th Results

So the wet vs. dry time difference seems to be around 5 seconds, at least for our car and/or wet driving skills. That's about what I remembered from a rainy event last year as well. That's a huge difference and yet somehow both wet and dry feel similarly "fast" to me when driving, perhaps ...

Re: Fixing potholes?

Has the club ever considered the Harrisburg Farm Show Complex? I know the PA chapter of SCCA uses it. (Coordinates: 40.288490 N, 76.885379 W) For us here near Frederick, it would be around 1.5 - 1.75 hours which isn't that much farther than Winchester, Woodbridge, or Waldorf. For folks in VA it woul...

Re: Harry Grove August 23rd Results

I think we need a name for the temporary lake that formed between the start line and the light pole during the monsoon. Two reliable sources said that the AI event at Waldorf was completely dry, as hard as that is for me to believe. My stuff is almost dry now...

Mike, thanks for getting the results out so quickly. And thanks to all of the organizers for another enjoyable event. It was a fun course, and it was nice that it was so long and maximized the lot, though I'm glad I got a chance to ride as a passenger several times before driving. Safety could have ...

Re: Woodbridge July 12th Results

I liked the course - you could really get some good speed through the slalom and on the final out and back. The sweepers allowed good choice of line and were challenging to get right so you were well set up for the next element. There were some interesting tradeoffs to think about on each sweeper. I...

Ditto. He was gone by the start of afternoon heat 1. I should have listened to my own advice (upthread) about not signing up for double runs. However the extra seat time outweighed the loss of BBQ.

OK Stephen. I'm not sure how to take that. I realize I am a relative newbie and don't have much frame of reference. Maybe I should wait to post an opinion next time until I have more experience.

Re: Waldorf Feedback

1. How did you like the course? A couple stretches were fun (notably the sweeper going down towards the lake) and the bit coming back from the lake. However it did have a couple of issues: a) I may be a bit biased as a driver of a momentum car but there were 3-4 places where we had to scrub and rebu...

Re: Fixing potholes?

I kind of knew that was the answer, especially regarding making the holes bigger. For all we know they may have plans to fix the potholes. Still I plan to bring a tape measure and camera next time to see what kind of effort and cost would be involved.

Re: Fixing potholes?

That's great that the pothole has a name! So the biggest question is still: do we need permission? If it's OK, the next step would be to measure the approximate square footage and depth (maybe two estimates - one including and one not including the crocodiled area) to get a cost estimate. (I'm assum...

Fixing potholes?

I was wondering about fixing a couple of the worst potholes at Harry Grove. For example consider the product below. Each 40 lb pail costs $20 and covers approximately 4 sq ft x 1 inch. I don't have a good grasp of how many buckets would be needed, but I wouldn't mind buying a couple / few buckets of...

Thanks Mike for getting the results out quickly. My favorite new column is offset from FTD (well except that the Cobras made everyone else look slow). The small bore fun class / filter has enough participants to be interesting; the others seem pretty thin.

Re: March 22nd Autocross and 23rd TNT now open

We got 8.5 inches here in Boyds (15 miles south of Frederick) but that is on the grass. On our blacktop driveway there is only 2 inches, and our neighborhood streets (which would usually at least have slush) are already clear.

Re: Determining 2014 CDC Optional Classes

I dislike the idea of only being able to check one block, that to me is like making a movie that's only eligible for "best picture" and forsaking every other category. My car fits in like 4 different categories and I'd like to check all those blocks. Such as it is, I'm still content to do...

Eric, do you have Historic plates on your Miata (or have you tried)? Ours isn't old enough yet, but I'm wondering what "substantially modified" means. The InterwebZ provided no solid answers.
