Re: Rivals or ZII's

We ran the 225 Rivals in the fall, and RS3s in the summer. Was quite happy with the Rivals, though we didn't run them in the heat. I've heard they don't handle heat well. The only experience I've had with R1Rs was with Frank's old set that were already heat cycled out and might as well be ice skates...

Re: Determining 2014 CDC Optional Classes

From the other thread I liked the idea of a Muscle class to include at least Mustangs and Camaros and any other larger high horsepower cars. (Would that include Corvettes?) Also a Performance Sedan class, which would include any modern V6 or V8 daily driver 4-door(?) sedan, to include Audis, Lexus, ...

Driving injury at last TnT (9 weeks later)

At the last Test & Tune, I caught my thumb on the steering wheel spokes/supports while wildly turning the wheel to avoid a spin-out. For several weeks it was painful doing almost everything including turning a key or doorknob, holding a bottle, or putting on socks/pants. For the first 3 weeks I ...

Re: Proposed Changes in 2014 CDC Autocross Series

So here is my idea for a few classes that, based on what I have seen for participants across a couple seasons, might be a good starting point: "Name to be determined RWD": Coupes, Hatchbacks, and Sedans 2.5L or under, RWD, no forced induction (unless factory equipped). This would allow Tw...

Re: Proposed Changes in 2014 CDC Autocross Series

You have all brought up some very good points. We want to find solutions that appeal to the majority of our participants. We also want to make sure that what we do is simple and straightforward for new folks to pick up. I have come up with an idea this morning that I want to share. For this moment,...

Re: Proposed Changes in 2014 CDC Autocross Series

One of the main things that makes CDC nice (up to this point) is that everyone is in the same boat as far as being able to drive whatever car they want and compete with everyone else. It's an informal club, not burdened by the classifications of SCCA. If we make small bore and indexed classes mutual...

Re: Pictures from 11/16/13 @ Harry Grove

Thanks for those photos - they are nice. You captured a really good one of my wife Denise smoking the tires on a turn. Are you charging for these for personal use? While I am technically able to get a largish 2048 x 1365 copy of the image from Flickr, I wouldn't want to use it on the web unless it's...

Re: Small Bore " Brawl for it All"

If it happens, it might be interesting to do a run off where each driver gets a run or two in both cars and then average (or add) the best times from each car - just to make it more about the drivers than the cars.

From the T&T results, 5 drivers (#4-8) were separated by 0.14 seconds, which at 30 MPH is approximately 6 feet. Pretty amazing.

Re: Harry Grove October 19th Results

Stephen, you did amazingly well - especially considering you hadn't driven a Miata in many years. It's scary to think how fast you would be if you were actually familiar with the car. It must be just a tad different than your Z06! I'm sure Eric is cursing your name (and ours too) for spoiling his Sm...

The miata.net forums have lots of good info, such as this buying guide: http://www.miata.net/faq/usedmx5.html and a list of common issues with NA Miatas: http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=163633 Hard tops are around $1000 in new condition. There's a used one on Ebay currently at $370 but it...

Re: Where to buy cones / Rallycross course design

As for eliminating the Miata as car of choice - you may want to reconsider that option. Our Miata doesn't even clear our freshly cut lawn, but now that you mention it I just got an idea for a possible wintertime project. Mind if I make a couple minor mods to the LATRL G, dear? http://www.paul-davis...

Ed, your ribs were very very good. I would not be so bold as to request them because they're probably quite a bit of extra work for you, but if you feel like making them again our taste buds would be happy and would appreciate your effort.

I didn't want to commit to it earlier (i.e., to be the deciding factor), but if he is already coming and not too busy we may be interested to fix a dent in the rear right fender on the Miata.

No worries Jeff. I hope it didn't come across that we might be trying to imply fault for what happened. We drove it at least 1000 miles including several autocrosses before this, so it was fine for a good while. Sometimes stuff just happens and vibrations cause things to come loose, and as far as I'...

According to the dyno she gained a few horsepower and foot pounds in the mid-RPM range while still staying under 100 hp. Not exactly my preferred manner of making a performance mod, but hopefully this ordeal will end up with some benefit. I'm not sure I can tell the difference but am curious to see ...

Our 17 y.o. girl is recovering from a broken heart / surgery

On the way home from the last autocross we had an incident that involved both belts coming off the pulleys of our black '96 Miata (LATRL G). The car overheated and boiled over, so we pulled over as quickly as possible and waited on the side of I-495 for a couple hours for the tow truck (but that's a...

Re: Huge Empty Lot - Victory Center on Eisenhower (Alexandri

Full Disclosure: I've never been to Lincoln Tech and run with CCA From what I've heard the lot is in kinda rough shape and really gravelly. Also, I've heard that the corvette guys have an "in" at the school which is the only reason they're allowed to use the lot. Let us know how the event...

Re: Huge Empty Lot - Victory Center on Eisenhower (Alexandri

Denise's Corvette club (CCA) uses the lot at Lincoln Tech in Columbia, MD (coordinates: 39.175, -76.834). Measuring via Google Earth, it looks like it is 500 x 360 ft which is larger than Harry Grove (around 400 x 270). It's not the best lot - there are light poles and some bumps / potholes, but if ...

C++ was my first "real" language (after BASIC and assembly, as a teenager) but I haven't touched it since about 1996. I used to love C++, but don't miss the manual memory management, linker issues, 2-stage compilation/linking, data types being different sizes on different architectures, et...
