Re: Bowie 9-25

Yeah looks like Mike must have been waiting to see if there was more corrections to the unofficial results before calculating the championship points total and that I jumped the gun in posting the official results. Sorry about that. We'll get it sorted and post updated official results as soon as po...

Fire Extinguisher

I just got done spending hundreds of dollars on my car putting in new seats, floor mats, roll bar, etc. so I decided ir was worth it to spend another couple hundred on a good on-board fire extinguisher as a precaution. I hope I never have to use it but with any car, especially one as old as mine, it...

LOL especially the part about Pink Floyd's The Wall. The scary thing is some people really do think like that.

Trackday Comedy

I'm sure many of you track day veterans have already seen this hilarious txt-to-movie comedy about every driving instructor's nightmare student but for those who haven't yet it's worth a click. It's even inspired a t-shirt sold by Miata guru Emilio at 949Racing. "I drive flat out." Indeed....

Re: Lighter wheels or suspension upgrade?

8lbs per wheel is a big difference and will definitely help your existing suspension handle better and will also improve acceleration and braking due to less inertia (flywheel) effect. A properly tuned, fully-adjustable setup with high-quality dampers and stiff springs will make a huge difference. I...

Re: Flyin' Miata frame rail reinforcement

I installed a Hard Dog Hard Bar Sport roll bar today and it made the biggest incremental difference out of all the braces so far. I can't imagine driving an old Miata without all the bracing I have. Next step is complete disassembly and seam weld....

I need to do the same but want to time it with an appointment to get my car aligned. I can tell you that installing a manual rack is way easier than retrofitting power steering!

The Merlot Missle, eh? Are you talking about a wimpy little Miata? Or did you paint one of them Mustang based kit cars to match the one below?

Re: 1993 Red Miata $2800 firm

Is this your car? Why are you selling? I really wish I had the cash bc if I did I'd jump on this in a heartbeat and transfer all my good parts to this shell. $2,800 is less than what a new paintjob will cost me. My car has rust :(

Great job Mike! I always knew you were a fast driver and to earn FTD in a old junker Subaru against real race cars is quite a feat! :D Congratulations

Ferrari California Test Drive Video

I spent a lovely vacation in Italy this summer. And of course I had to visit Ferrari, Lamborghini and Pagani while I was there! While in Maranello I took a Ferrari California for a spin, about 1.5 hours through the rolling hills that the factory uses for road car development. Here is a little video ...

Re: SLR camera

http://www.dpreview.com/ ^^ lots of good info. And I suspect that's why you're asking here - there is so much good info out there it can be overwhelming! I don't know that I'd want a SLR for $700. I mean, sure, you can get started for that much but for something really amazing you'll end up spending...

Re: Flyin' Miata frame rail reinforcement

The hard brake and fuel lines are normally attached to the unibody via two brackets. Because the frame rail mounting bolts now occupy the same space as the hard lines you must slightly relocate the lines by modifying the two brackets (hammer them flat) and attach them to the frame rail using two sel...

Re: Flyin' Miata frame rail reinforcement

AFAIK there are two options: Flyin' Miata and Boss Frog. The Flyin' Miata version is the only one that works with the FM butterfly brace section. I like what Boss Frog has been doing with respect to V8 Miata swaps but I've been buying from FM for so long they are usually my default choice. FM is sta...

Flyin' Miata frame rail reinforcement

I finally got my FM frame rails installed tonight. I don't know why every project I tackle seems to take twice as long as it should (based on others' reports) but WOW! what an improvement. For reference, my Miata was built 11/90 and the only other chassis bracing is the RB front subframe brace and F...
