The run sessions are shorter, but you run into fewer trains. You can also get some handy hawk contingency.ACoopeR wrote:I just registered for the august 16/17 nasa event, see you there! I should have requested a check ride for TT but I can't make up my mind of when I will actually start running in that group.

Re: Selecting differential ratios
I like the 4.78. It looks like you'll top out around 120 mph. My integra reaches about 120mph at both VIR and summit main going into turn 1 at both and also going into the roller coaster at VIR. At 120 mph, my integra is approaching the rev limiter with my 4.7 final drive gear. It's painful cruising...

Re: Winchester August 9th Results
Did someone change my index to under 100hp because of how slow i looked out there?
I have a stock '95 miata which generally dyno right around 100whp, so to be safe i've been registering as 101-150hp. Just making sure my 312S index is correct (i was running my integra's Nitto NT01, 100TW).

Re: Winchester July 26th Results
The course was very fun and technical; kudos to Larry on the creativity. I agree on pairing folks new to autocrossing with course workers who are more experienced. Perhaps we should suggest that course workers spread out, within reason, to better cover the course, especially at winchester which is l...

So i know it took a few years(!), but i finally found a '95 with the PEP and torsen for a good deal and pulled the trigger. Currently replacing all of the fluids and rubber components. Hope to bring it out soon!

Re: Winchester June 15th Results
Thanks Mike for posting the results so quickly. This event went very smoothly with it looks like about 103 slots (when counting the participants running double slots or sharing a second slot). I think a lot of people liked the $10 discount for the second slot. I think the extra runs with the discou...

If any CDC members choose to do any NASA events and you want/need an instructor, I'd be happy to work with you. Ask for Matt Huffman when you sign up.

Re: 2014 Season Ya'll!
tbh once the house stuff is sorted, I will come autoX in the wagon so i don't forget how to drive. Plus it's cheap and I don't need fancy brake pads. It would be a 200hp 4000lbs goof ball body rolling all over the place on stock suspension but at least it is running (and it's an autotragic lol). Bu...

That's an intense schedule, Spencer! I'm planning on doing most of the NASA-MA Summit events and the VIR events when the weather is nice. I may try to go to NASA East nationals, but we'll see. Eric, what's your U-haul plan, i.e. what type of vehicle are you renting and are you using a dolly or flat ...

I like the group recommendations, particularly: Smallbore (current rules) FWD (unlimited) Sports car (RWD under 250-300HP, targets FRS/BRZ, s2000, bmw, Merkur?) Muscle car (RWD over 250-300HP, targets camaro, mustang, corvette) Daily driver (should be street tires >=200 TW?) AWD (unlimited) Rotary (...

I ended up getting a you-weld-it kit from rollcagecomponents.com. The owner was very helpful.

The following are VEIP Exempt Vehicles: ... Historic or Antique vehicles ... Eric, do you have Historic plates on your Miata (or have you tried)? Ours isn't old enough yet, but I'm wondering what "substantially modified" means. The InterwebZ provided no solid answers. My 92 integra has ha...

Another reference.

I'm also wondering if it could be registered as a "1974 Caterham/Lotus Seven". I could get "regular" plates (without historic car restrictions on usage) and still be emissions exempt.

ADVICE on KIT CAR registration / emissions
I'm interested in building the Exomotive Exocet (http://exomotive.com/exocet/), but they don't say anything about emissions requirements / exemption. Perhaps the cobra guys or "locost" builders can offer some advice? The car uses a tube frame plopped down on the miata underpinnings. It has...
