Registration Open for the March 30th Auto-x Season Opener
Registration is now open for the first autocross event of the season on Sunday, March 30th, 2008 at Prince George’s Stadium in Bowie, MD. As always, click on the Schedule link on our homepage and select “Sign Up Now” to reserve your spot. Right now registration is open to Capital Driving Club members and their guests only. Assuming we don’t sell out, registration will open to non-members on Friday, March 21, 2008. Let’s hope the weather cooperates for us so that we may enjoy a safe, fun event. If you have any questions about the (optional) new CDC Autocross Index System, please be sure to read the FAQ
Re: Registration Open for the March 30th Auto-x Season Opener
Field is now full and we aren't taking any more reservations.
The March 30th event is the first time we completely filled the field at Bowie (typically only 85 people show up). Either this event is so popular because its the first event of the year, CDC is gaining popularity, we because we are accepting new memberships. I really can't figure it out. Can any of you??

It's the first event of the season! SCCA, AI, etc don't start for a few weeks.
Re: Registration Open for the March 30th Auto-x Season Opener
nah, it's the new index system. Do they have lights in the parking lot?

It does have some light posts to watch out for, so maybe lights too.FredK wrote:nah, it's the new index system. Do they have lights in the parking lot?

If everything goes well, we should be out of there by 4PM. Not my calculation, but Ed's & Kyle's. We can run a pretty good & safe overlap if we get a course design that allows for it.
So we can process more cars per hour & the new timing equipment we have should make this easier in the timing tent.
We just need some good weather

Re: Registration Open for the March 30th Auto-x Season Opener
You should practice in the off season like I do. Every couple of days I find an empty parking lot, walk out to the middle, and stand there for a couple hours.ButtDyno wrote:WOOHA!! SEASON!! AUTOX!! CONES!!!!

Re: Registration Open for the March 30th Auto-x Season Opener
Please arrive no later than 8am. Registration and tech inspection open at 8am and close promptly at 8:50am. Tech inspection must be completed prior to the mandatory drivers' meeting which begins at 9am. If you arrive late and do not get your tech inspection completed on time you will lose your morning runs. I've updated the FAQto make this more clear.
As before, the entry fee for autocross events is $25 for members, $35 for non-members. Entry fees are payable in CASH at the registration table on the day of the event. Cash is preferred. However, if you absolutely must write a personal check, please make it payable to "Capital Drivng Club". Sorry, but we do not accept credit cards, Paypal, or any other form of payment or trade for event fees.

Re: Registration Open for the March 30th Auto-x Season Opener
I don't want to jinx us, but the weather forecast looks pretty good for Sunday's auto-x.
NWS wrote:Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 50.
Re: Registration Open for the March 30th Auto-x Season Opener
I won't be there. Cathie and I are going to New Jersey for the weekend to run some rallys. My car is in pieces so it might not make the next one but I should be there. Have fun.
Re: Registration Open for the March 30th Auto-x Season Opener
Here's what I saw for weather:
"Sunday - Partly sunny. Highs in the upper 40s. East winds 5 to 10 mph. "
Saturday night lows are expected in the low 30's, so it's going to be chilly for the first 1/2 of the day. Should be an interesting drive on race tires & 30 degree temps
Dress warmly.
I love the way they sell upper 40's as "Near 50" in the forecast Kyle read. Then "partly sunny" in the forecast I posted from WJZ TV. Just another way of saying " Mostly cloudy."
I guess even the weather men have to spin the news nowadays.

I've got A048's ready on a spare set of wheels or the A/S tires currently on the car. What to run? 40F on RE01R's last time out was sketchy

fox "news" said, "Mid 60's with 1" to 3" of snow."Gonz wrote:...I love the way they sell upper 40's as "Near 50" in the forecast Kyle read. Then "partly sunny" in the forecast I posted from WJZ TV. Just another way of saying " Mostly cloudy."

Re: Registration Open for the March 30th Auto-x Season Opener
the Cobra is still in pieces, on the lift, so I was in my miata yesterday. No idea what class....it's stock except for Koni yellows & sway bars. I'm running Kumho MX's one size larger than stock. I'm not too up on my scca classes, but I think that puts me out of E-stock?

Re: Registration Open for the March 30th Auto-x Season Opener
The shocks alone I think put Wade out of E-stock and into either E-Street Prepared, although the tires might bump that again.
2 of the 4 minis there yesterday definately were SM cars from the sound and looks of them.
