Bowie June 11th 2011 Results

Take a look and let me know if anything needs to be changed. I will update the Championship tabs in another day or two.

Hope everyone had fun despite the heat and the quick shower!

Mike,

Thanks for the super fast posting of the Results. And thanks to Mehr and John for head organizing (along with Mike, Jacob, Jason, Marc, Larry, Richard, and Jeff for organizing). I think the heat was a challenge for everyone (execpt the woman that was cold with a blanket -I offered to let her spend time at the grill!

I think the event went very well, despite the heat. Ted definately had a course that we've never done before. The single cone turn-around at the bottom of the hill into a slalom up the hill. I never seemed to turn correctly and keep my momentum up. Instead, I scrubbed too much speed and had no power to get up the hill.

Let us know your thoughts!

I can't believe I coned away a 36...shoot me.

It was a fun day despite the heat and brief downpour. Adam and I made it with about 3 miles from home before the skies OPENED up and dumped buckets on us. At least the rain was cold and felt good after cooking on 66.

I really liked the initial loop, the 180° single cone turn, the wide-open slalom, and even the finish. The squared off loop....not so much.

The 180 followed by an uphill WOT slalom was miserable in a car with ~100hp. I agree the squared off loop was not fun.

Travis-

Based on the weather forecast, I was initially thinking I had made the wrong choice of cars, and was wishing I brought the miata instead. Those thoughts were gone on the first lap of the coursewalk. ;)

I had a great time! The course gave me a hard time in some spots, but it was fun. Here is a video of my runs.

Running up hill WOT with a directional change at the crest of the hill made for some exciting times. I could use a little more straight-a-way.

Good times as usual! The course was a real toughie with all the tight corners and turn around. With my lexus-ratio steering was insane amount of turning the wheel, the video looks like a newbie at the wheel  Was not a corvette or fwd course for sure. My car will be getting a cage next monday so ill try my best to harass some of my friends to codrive their cars for the next 2 events as ive already missed enough this season.

The only car that worried me was the Silver M roaster going sideways up the slalom.

Even though my tires are about dead it was still fun. I liked the different course design even if I didn't get the hang of the hairpin till after my tires gave up for the day.

The wife and I got some pics of some of the cars too. https://picasaweb.google.com/spazattack ... directlink

I owned an M Coupe for 7 years, so I feel his pain. Great car, but it can be two handfuls on an autocross course. It doesn't like throttle lift very much.

My Miata needs new tires. Especially in the wet.

Thanks for the heads-up. Not sure why AJ had different driver numbers, but I fixed it.

And same with the championship points. I'm going to assume it because of the member/car number comfusion. I believe Ed Chan said he'd try to give me plain old number 50 since he thinks that member number is no longer in use...

I had fun at the event. Pissed that I got rained on right after my first morning run and didn't bring my water sprayer to use in the afternoon so I had overheated tires... Oh well.

I gave up changing AJs number to 450. Since he keeps trying to use 50, I' just changed his number to 50 because the member with 50 hasn't been active for 4 years. The next event will be the first time with his number as 50.

I made 50 AJ's permanent number and took out the double entries in both championship tabs.

I have a slew of pics, mostly of my and Motty's Miatae and Greg's Merkur, but I tried to get some shots of the cars that ran when I had my camera handy.
