I'll never get you guys. You cancel an event because it's a little warm, or might rain, but when their is a Winter storm watch in effect you're ready to go.??

You are one to speak Fred, I seem to rember you registering for several events and then not showing up cause it was raining. Seems to be a strong case of the pot calling the kettle black here.

Would you recommend the star specs or the winter tires to set the fastest time of day? I'm chasing AJ for the small bore championship. :D

So yeah.....for Frederick:
Winter Storm Warning

Statement as of 2:31 PM EDT on October 28, 2011

... Winter Storm Warning in effect from midnight tonight to 6 PM
EDT Saturday...

The National Weather Service in Baltimore MD/Washington has
issued a Winter Storm Warning for snow... which is in effect from
midnight tonight to 6 PM EDT Saturday. The Winter Storm Watch is
no longer in effect.

* Precipitation type... snow.

* Accumulations... 4 to 8 inches of snow.

* Timing... rain will overspread Frederick County this
evening... and change over to snow tonight. The heaviest snow
will fall from the predawn hours Saturday into Saturday
afternoon. The accumulating snow will end by mid afternoon.

* Impacts... heavy wet snow will likely accumulate on trees. With
foliage still on trees... the snow may lead to broken tree
limbs and power outages. Hazardous travel on snow-covered
roads is also possible.

* Temperatures... in the mid 30s.

* Winds... northeast 5 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow are
expected or occurring. Strong winds are also possible. This will
make travel very hazardous or impossible.

Doubt we will have any accumulation during the autocross. It will likely accumulate late in the afternoon after we are already done.

Bring the shovels!

I hope it does snow and stick. First autox school I ever went to was in about 3-4inces of snow. Fun stuff.

But uhhhh IF it is slick out on course, could we maybe do something about grid? It's iffy enough when dry out. Snow? Not good. I doubt attendance will be high with the weather..

Took the wheels off my DD that have good, near full tread all seasons and put them on the Zoo. I was going to just leave the Toyo's on but figured I'd be safer than sorry. More concerned about getting there and back than actually racing. Bringing the Toyo's with me and will probably use them if it's just wet out on course..

I borrowed my brother's rallycross winterforces off his civic and they're loaded into the corolla :).

On a separate note, my corolla now has reverse, yay.

I actually did get up early to check the weather and make my final decision. I love autocrossing in the wet, and the cold wouldn't have bothered me, but then I read this:

http://www.accuweather.com/blogs/news/s ... orm-to.asp
Cities that are likely to receive the heaviest snowfall include: Hartford, Conn., Frederick, Md., Worcester, Mass., Nashua, N.H., Netcong, N.J., Newburgh, N.Y., Scranton, Pa., Winchester, Va. and Martinsburg, W.V
I don't really want to take the chance of either getting stuck down in Frederick (or more likely on the slope of South Mountain whilst returning home) or having my car crashed into by some idiot driver who doesn't know how to drive in the snow. So I think I'll be a wimp and pass on the Great Snowcross of Halloween 2011

It's really cold and snowing like crazy. Here's what the autocross looks like right now.

Casualties on my way home: two cars in the ditch on 70E, one on its roof in the middle of the road on 70W, and one that spun backwards into the concrete divider on 695. Hope everyone that attended our snow party this morning makes it home safe!

Saw a couple cars in ditches on 70E on my way back. It's just been raining in Howard County since I've gotten back.

I guess I'm glad I didn't waste the fuel going down there then. It's worse up here in Hagerstown; we already have a couple inches here.

I hope everyone makes it back OK!

We were talking about that when we were there. If the snow keeps falling, I doubt it.. I'm sure no one will clean that lot up of snow/ice and it seems like Frederick tends to dump extra snow in that lot.

Although the weather was crap today, we were still prepared to hold some sort of timed event if enough people showed up. Unfortunately only about 8 participants were there by 8:40. We ended up gathering at a nearby cafe for some breakfast instead.

I am going to talk to Ed about the future of the T&T soon. Given the weather and the fact that HG may become a giant ice sheet over night, I am thinking we may just call it now. Stay tuned for an official announcement on the T&T.
