Post by echan »

We're back at Harry Grove on Saturday September 15th for the autocross and TNT on Sunday September 16th.

We are now taking reservations for members (and their guests) in the Schedule Section. Non-members can make a reservation starting on Friday September 7th.

Looking forward to another great event. May even have the Vette back up and running by that point! :D

Do you want the cliffnotes or the whole list?

clutch and starter for one. It broke at the last Frederick event like 3 runs in. Clutch pedal went to the floor and won't pop back up. Which probably means the clutch hydraulics are messed up somehow in addition to the clutch just being old/worn and slipping.

On a somewhat related note we fixed the hesitation and exhaust leak in the GTI so mike's tooling around town in my sti, his MG B or our $600 GTI :D

Nick pretty much nailed it. They're fabbing up a new twin disc clutch for me (the previous owner had a stock clutch with 550rwhp...easy to see the failure point).

On top of that, the tune on the car was never quite right (wouldn't re-start after hot, ran incredibly rich, hesitated on throttle, and had no engine braking), so I'm throwing in a tune to boot.

Hopefully it will drive great once I get it back, but my pockets are sure going to be empty for a while.

Cheers,

Mike

So can we please have consistent rain or no rain at all this time?
I wish I had snap on wheels so I didn't have to spend 20 min to change them all out.

Also any one know where I can get 100+ Unleaded ? Might pick some up so I can run my "Race" tune

E85 with a different tune is probably the easiest in this area

Sunoco on 40 or myersville. It's a quite a bit cheaper at the pump in Summit Point, though. I usually grab 10 gallons when I go up there.

Wait the Sunoco on 40 has it? I thought I checked them out before but they stopped. Well I can check it out next time I am on 40. I found this link and it points out myersville

Good. Was just wondering. I'm still new with autocross and especially this club, so I'm unfamiliar with what would happen if there was minimal registration...evidently, we've crossed that threshold with 31 reservations.

Typically, we give 6 runs, but if we field is small, we will either increase the course time and/or increase the number of runs.

Keep in mind, often the field doesn't fill out until later in the week.

Can I be #206 instead of #903?

Forgot to toss that in the comments when I signed up.

Thanks!

Sure. You can use your old number. You know if you attend one more event, it would have been cheaper to renew your membership!

I just hope my tires make it through the whole event. Stupid big heavy Subaru eating through a set of Star Specs in less than a season...

Once again, I had a ton of fun today! I had a few off-course issues at the beginning, but it was still fun. I'd thought about buying two slots. I did that at one of the Winchester meets and I was so busy I almost lost my mind.

I think it was BugBomb that spent time with me and revealed my errors. He also shared a few tips . Thanks, man!

Here are a two vids of mine:

http://youtu.be/43UJmPLHGNk

http://youtu.be/LGh9s50GupE

I wanted to capture my driving for fun, but found that I can also use it to evaluate my driving. I found a lot of issues.

Plus, I got a ton of phone footage of other drivers racing...gonna use those to examine their driving techniques.

I too had a lot of fun today as well as had my fair share of off course issues.

I also have footage of my two best runs, which may be useful for people if they want to get a slow time, but look cool while doing it.

I also want to say thanks to the organizers and I hope I can shave some more time of my runs tomorrow at the Test & Tune.
