2009 CDC Indexes

Post by echan »

As promised at the award lunch, we discussed and voted on how to modify the indexes for 2009. We tried to make as many people happy as possible.

Below are the indexes for 2009.

101-150 HP 1.00
151-200 HP 1.01

251-350 HP 1.03
>350 HP 1.04

Weight Index:
<2000 lbs 1.02
2000-2500 lbs 1.01
2501-3000 lbs 1.00
3001-3500 lbs 0.99
>3500 lbs 0.98

Tire Index:
Street Tires: 1.00
Tires with wear rating 100-139: 1.02
Tires with wear rating <100: 1.035

In addition, the award for both the index series and the small bore series will be the following:

The index doesn't really effect me since I'm an organizer. I just think it's sort of funny how my Miata gets indexed.

HP = ~200 -> 1.01
Weight = 2523 -> 1.0
Tire = 180 AA A -> 1.0

1.01 for a turbocharged Miata. Maybe I should quit as an organizer and go for the prizes. :)

How does your miata weight so much? Is that with you in it? A stock miata is what around 2300? Even with a turbo and inter cooler and piping it shouldn't be more then 2400.

It's a 2004 MazdaSpeed. Have you looked under one of those? My guess is there's at least 50 lbs. of bracing added. Then there's the turbo/intercooler. I'm not sure what else makes up the difference. Maybe the 17" rims. Oh yeah, the plastic chin and trunk spoilers. After going on a small diet this winter, mine probably now actually weighs 2499 lbs.

Stock pre 08 STi bridgestone re070 are 140 tread wear. It's definitely a street tire and while soft isn't as soft as a r888. Maybe the tire index should be 100-139?

The RE01R is 140 treadwear in certain sizes as well. Also definitely a street tire.

These changes are positive tho :D

OK. 100-139 is fine.

Sorry to keep going off topic with this.........but, you have a Turbo Miata ? :?
I've seen you in a 1990 Miata, but never the Turbo. You should bring it out some time (when the TR6 is in the shop).

I just picked up a 2001 Miata last week. Will probably be autoXing it at the smaller lots (Frederick).

I'm sure you'll be seeing Joe's Miata quite a lot since the TR6 motor and transmission is out of the car in about 100 pieces. I'm not sure when we will be able to get the motor put back together, with all these autocrosses.

I've only had the MazdaSpeed since last August and brought it to the last Frederick event. With the 5 year old bald stock tires, it was like driving on ice. Hopefully some fresh rubber will help. The weight is a little high for a Miata, but it's still less than most cars and what's been added is mostly low to the ground. BTW, we'll try to post some pictures of the TR6 engine internals. So far, the lifters are the only horror we've found (heavy pitting and cupping). I'm expecting the main bearings to be pretty bad. If the block and crank are shot, it may be time to look for a 3 liter BMW motor as a replacement. Or maybe one from an IS300...

Ah that would be why, 2004 :) Thought you just turbo charged one of the regular early models.

I've got a 3.5L M30 engine for sale if you're interested.
