Next CDC AutoX Sat April 13th and TNT Sun April 14th Frederick, MD

Post by echan »

The Saturday April 13th autocross and Sunday April 14th Test and Tune at Harry Grove Stadium, Frederick, MD is now open for reservations for members (and their guests) and new members. Non-members can make a reservation starting Friday April 5th. Below are more details about the NEW Heats format and Grid:

Heats

We got permission to stage cars on the narrow walkway/access road between the upper lot and lower lot at Harry Grove, Frederick, MD.

For this event we will not have A and B Groups, but instead we will have 4 heats with no (A and B). This effectively changes 6 different groups into 4. The work assignments will be the following:

Heat 1 (old 1A) Drives and Heat 3 (old 2A) Works
Heat 2 (old 1B) Drives and Heat 4 (old 2B) Works
Heat 3 (old 2A) Drives and Heat 1 (old 1A) Works
Heat 4 (old 2B) Drives and Heat 2 (old 1B) Works

We're making this heat change so that driver's won't have to go directly from working and walking all the way to the upper lot to stage on the access road. This new format allows the next heat to get their cars before the previous heat is finished and thereby saves a lot of time.

If you are a morning only I plan to load these drivers in Heat 3 to avoid having to hunt from drivers that may skip out of their work assignments.

Overall, this format should make the day shorter.

Grid

The grid will be a hot lane on the narrow access road (e.g. no grid on the lower lot). This configuration will give us more run-off on the course and should increase safety.

One issue is that after each run, cars will have to leave the lot and drive on the public road to the upper lot. We will have a worker station to make the driver remove their helmet and "cool" down for a few seconds before letting them to back to the upper lot.

Speeding, aggressive, or any crazy driving on the public road can jeopardize us using this venue. So if you speed, aggressively drive, or drive like an idiot, we will IMMEDIATELY EJECT you from the event and possibly BAN you from the club.

For cars that have issues with driving on the public road (e.g. you removed the windshield for the event), we will allow limited parking at the lower lot for you.
