CHALLENGES!!!!!
CHALLENGES!!!!!
Okay, I've sealed a deal w/ Andrewtech. This year they will sponsor a "Subaru vs EVO" shootout. It will be open to all Subarus and EVOs. I'll pick 5 events, best 4 finishes will count for participants.
Winner gets a free alignment from Andrewtech!!!
We're looking to get other shops to sponsor similar shootouts, challenges, etc. It'll benefit everyone: the club (we'll forgo annual sponsorship fee), the shop (free advertising and potential new customers), and the folks battling it out! Win-Win!!!!
So, that being said, I'd love to get input from you folks, as well as volunteers to keep track of points. Perhaps mla163 or Mike Moran could assist?
I'm thinking that we'd filter out your points from the non-challenge folks. With the indexed times for that event, those who are in the challenge might be: 1st fastest = 100 pts, 2nd fastest = 95 pts, ??? You guys...I need your thoughts before we set the wheels in motion.
Those of you who don't own an EVO or Subaru, please go out and buy one! Or find a co-driver. DISCLAIMER: If you break the owners car, you pay for repairs or work something out.

Re: CHALLENGES!!!!!
I will also be representing the EVO's. I think this is a great idea. the whole 100,95 etc points would be ok but why not just go with 100,99,98,97?
Re: CHALLENGES!!!!!
Why not do Subaru vs. Honda? Or Mazda? Very few EVOs compete in CDC events.

Re: CHALLENGES!!!!!
I can keep track of points if needed. I heart spreadsheets.
I like the fastest subaru idea since there are so many of us. But Travis is right, there aren't too many Evos that come out. There are more Miatas and Minis.
I guess we'd have to give out points in accordance with indexed time. 100 - 1st, 99 - 2nd on down. We could start at 10 and go down, but we may run out of numbers. Most points at the end of the season wins. How many events for this? All of them? Just a few? All, but drop X events?

Re: CHALLENGES!!!!!
There aren't too many Evos at CDC events because Evo drivers are the biggest bunch of hardparking ricers I have ever met. I am officially throwing down the gauntlet and I challenge any/all Evo drivers who think they're fast to come out to the CDC Subaru vs. Evo Challenge sponsored by AndrewTech and prove it. Your honor is at stake and you must defend it. Mwahahahahaha. It will be fun watching the Subaru drivers mop the floor with the Evos assuming any show up. I have a feeling several Evos will sign up but none will actually make it to any events. They'll either break down on the way there or they'll have excuses like "I would auto-x but my clutch is fried" or "I'll auto-x as soon as I get my tune sorted" or "My car is set up for drag racing, not auto-x."

Re: CHALLENGES!!!!!
The Miatas already have their own "Challenge" event. It's called the Small Bore Series.

Re: CHALLENGES!!!!!
yeah... I think you'd be better off making a "rotary vs. pistons" challenge. I think there are more rotaries than evos
I'd totally be up for a mazda vs. anything else challenge...

Re: CHALLENGES!!!!!
Talk about a lopsided fight. The whole point of a Challenge type event is to provide added excitement by promoting well-established rivalries (i.e. Camaro vs. Mustang or Corvette vs. Porsche 911) or to boost attendance from a particular demographic (i.e. 350Z/370Z or G35/G37).BugBomb wrote:Mazda Vs. Re: CHALLENGES!!!!!
I feel like the EVO's did a good job yesterday, there were 5 of us and I know some were running 43's and 44's
Re: CHALLENGES!!!!!
SUBARU vs EVO - POINTS AND DATES (can be modelled for other challenges as well)
Basically I was thinking:
1) pick 6 dates - 5 top finishes is your season score
2) use current index
3) same scoring point system as the whole group, but apply points to ONLY those that are eligible.
4) if you borrow someone's car but don't notify us prior to registration (or sometime during the event), thus making us do more work...either you get dinked some point, get a minimal score, or something like that. We can't have everyone willy-nilly co-driving 1 run just to get in the series. You gotta let us know prior to the Driver's meeting.
5) ???
I'm thinking:
May 9th (Summit Point)
May 23rd (Bowie)
June 27th (Hylton HS, Woodbridge, VA)
July 18th (Summit Point)
August 1st (Bowie)
September 5 (Harry Grove)
October 17th (Summit Point)
* If there's a rainout for one of the dates, we'll sub in Harry Grove 11/21.
Mike Moran (I volunteered him b/c he's cool like that) will handle the tallying. Rock on, folks! If another series wants to seriously be created, PM/email us. We will need serious competition, a shop/vendor to sponsor the series, etc. Think carefully before submitting. This will be a fun season!
thx,
