my first time making the trek to this venue. i liked the course layout, a good mix of fast and slow, tight and wide corners. the surface my driving seemed to have chewed up my tires, haha.
also a bummer about heat 3 losing their afternoon runs due to a conflict in the stadium's schedule.
I think next time ill donate a case of water, just seemed to keep running out of it on such a hot day.
anyways overall another great cdc event. easy for me to say i suppose since I wasnt in heat 3......

I agree on all your points. By Ed's post they are being super accommodating for those folks to make it up the best they can.

Re: 05/23/09 Bowie Auto-x
Forgot to mention how impressive that big boat of a Mercedes was and how good the driver was for such great times! Spanked me in my little car! Goes to show what a good driver can do and how much is driver skill vs. car/mods.

Some pics from today. Don't have a lot of time right now to sort them all out and upload to flickr... there are some GEMS in there. But you have to dig for them. 485 in total. PM me if you want a high res one in particular. Include the photo file name. Thanks!
The problem with having unlimited storage space is you can take unlimited crappy pictures lol.

Thanks for those pictures. Its nice to be able to see action shots of your car in a corner, how the car is reacting - something you don't "see" when your driving it.

Did anyone pick up an 5 gal. airtank; red, Craftsman? It wouldn't be a Bowie race if I didn't leave something behind.
Thanks.
Thanks.

The organizers had it (the tank) at the end of the day. Check with Ed or Ted.

We found it and packed it in the trailer. You can pick it up at the next event.

Re: 05/23/09 Bowie Auto-x
I took many many many shots of the cars in heats 1 and 2 in the AM. The guy I asked to take pictures of me in heat 3 got a couple shots of other cars in Heat 3 as well. I hope to be done sorting all of them by the end of tomorrow.
I enjoyed the driving (for the three runs I was able to make), but the heat was almost unbearable. Had I known that we needed someone to make runs to get water, I would have volunteered my services (you can fit a lot of water in the back of a Fit).
Personally I found the course extremely confusing, even after walking through twice. I'm sure there were many under-experienced drivers who had the same problem. Oh well, live and learn. After a couple of rides in heat 2 PM, I was ready, and knew the course enough to try again. I was disappointed to say the least. Ce la vie.

Re: 05/23/09 Bowie Auto-x
I also was confused most of the day... but I can't blame the course. It was me-- I need to concentrate more on learning the course. When I finally did get it right I found it to be a really fun and challenging course and I enjoyed it immensely. Kudo's to the course designer(Mike?) and to all of the organizers and to everybody who helped out and to the people who posted pictures, etc. This kind of involvement is a big part of what makes CDC special and so much fun.

I had a great time with the course and my S2000 felt GREAT!

Re: 05/23/09 Bowie Auto-x
Search through the pic threads in ax and general car forums as well as the media page of the CDC website. If you don't see your car let us know your car number & color of s2000 to look for those that took pictures.

There are a bunch of photos over on the CDC Flickr Group, http://www.flickr.com/groups/capitaldrivingclub/. I know I took a bunch of heats 1 & 3.

Tommysalami, I did get one pic of your car, but wasnt on course, it was the big lineup for heat one before they started sending cars out on course.

sweet, thanks for the pics. was wondering when i might see a few of my car diving into a turn, the body roll isn't quite as treacherous as I was expecting. feels like it though.
