You might want to start working harder and faster. We plan to start off the season in March at Harry Grove! We just need to get the dates confirmed.

The problem with the car is not one of work, it's a matter of parts. I'm awaiting a lot of things right now so that I can actually do something with the car. If it was a matter of work, I'd be in there on every free hour of my time.

Boy if only they put up a bridge between Charles County MD and Woodbridge VA

Regardless we'll add these to our master calendar and see how many of them we can run at. Hope to run enough to factor in the points but we'll see how that works out.

I just was informed by Hylton that August 7th is cancelled. So I removed it from the list.

I have the list of slot cars to the hobby shop. Franklin Dam didn't want a slot car but wanted a leftover trophy (don't have anymore). I'm having a plate engraved.

So when all the slot cars come in and the engraving is done, I'll schedule the awards lunch. My guess is that it will be early to mid Feb (just like last year). I tried to get it earlier this year but it always takes longer than expected. I suppose in the future we can just give out passes without a material award to speed up the process.

In the past, we use to give out really nice stop watches in glass domes with the base engraved. We also gave out brass compasses that were engraved. Then we gave out modified Smith gages that I modified to a clock in a wood base. All of these trophies took a tremendous amount of time and work. Then last year we went to the slot cars believing that we would have a slot car track at the events (which we did only once last year) and that it would reduce the labor and time. The cars are really cool but most people don't want to run their slot cars. Now the slot cars are given as just a neat thing.

The slot cars definately reduce the labor but it still takes time since everyone has to decide what car they want then order them. I wanted to give something nice rather than a crappy plastic trophy or paper certificate that no one keeps. A few years ago, I talked to Randy Campfield. Randy, who has won countless trophies with his Sprite, told me that after awhile he just threw most of his trophies away. However, the ones he kept were the unusual ones or ones that had some utility. So I figure we should try to give out trophies that won't be thrown away.

Sorry for the long explaination.

I'll make a huge google calendar for all the events again.

Simple enough, engrave a tool. Ratchet, wrench, rubber mallet (everyone loves those),etc.

That may be the way we go in the future. It's easy, fast, and cheap. The idea of engraving a tool also sounds good. No matter how many ratchets I have, I could always use another one.

Especially at the rate I break mine. The people at Sears hate me, I'm sure they whisper to their co-workers, "Here comes that bearded guy with the broken tools again..."

Woohoo! I can't wait. All this cold, wet crappy Winter has really made me want to get out there and tear up some rubber...

I guess I should probably get on with ordering some tires, though, eh?

I have one with CDC, BMW, and SCCA events listed. I'll add more as I find them (AutoxInc?).

It's at the bottom of the front page at Parsimonious Racing (http://www.claffie.com/pr) but at some point I'll probably move it onto its own page.

there's no mention of summit. does that mean no summit for 2010? just curious. i personally didn't care too much for it. but thought it was good practice. and i liked watching the track during down times.

NOTE: Updated Bowie event Saturday 28 August

At this point, we do not have any plans for events at Summit. Joe Macinnes will should inform us of the Spring/Summer part of the Harry Grove dates at the awards lunch. We'll get the Harry Grove dates for the Fall around August (as we normally do).

That's too bad. I'm sure the skid pad was expensive to rent though. I really enjoyed those courses and the scenic drive out to SP.
