Snow at Harry Grove Stadium

Post by DaveL20 »

Man I hope it gets real warm and stays warm for several weeks.

They have snow piled up in the entire parking lot at HGS and it is like 4' - 10' high. They have been stacking it there for the last 3 weeks. It is crazy.

I would also worry about the condition of the lot underneath.....

It's more like 20' high and it's full!

Be happy. I was talking to Joe Mac tonite, we are planning a snow rally for late April, I'm bringing my Case 580 down to do some course prep, think big air.

I wouldn't worry about it just yet. We still have close to 4 weeks and the lot will be swept before our first event.

I was not worried about the lot condition as much as will all the snow be gone in the next 3 - 4 weeks.

When it is piled that high and stacked like it is, it does not melt as fast as small layers on the ground does.

Yes we should all rest assured that all the ruts and potholes we have grown to love are safe and sound under a couple feet of snow, protected from the elements.

If any snow is left in a middle, with a shovel and some orange food coloring we can easily make a two way cross box.

What's the latest report??? Drive-by over the weekend from a trusted source says that some tropical weather will be required over the next two weeks to avoid a snow-X situation..

Which one of you locals will be keeping us updated, please??? ;)

I drive by every morning. Been dark this week but you can still see 3 - 4 feet of snow covering 90% of the parking lot.

Will need more rain and much more warm weather to make it all go away by next weekend.

Um....holy crap.

Even if it's 100° and raining for the next week and a half and that stuff somehow melts, there is still going to be about an inch of dirt/gravel on the lot.

the city dumped snow there? :o

i'm more than willing to head out there with a shovel, and move the snow, spread it out on the lot, and put it on the grass!

Joe Macinnes said that he has requested that Harry Grove staff sweep the lot before we use it. Joe also said they will disperse the snow to make it melt faster.

We have 10 days of warm weather, we think it should be melted by the first event.

If the city spreads it out it would surely help.

I'm getting together a list of things I will need to pack for the first event. Let me know if I am missing anything:

R-comps
studded snow tires
Pump
Jack
Pressure Gauge
Shovel
Snow Pants
Driving shoes
Snow boots

I'm from New England. We used to have a contest to guess when the snow would be gone from the place they piled it up. Whoever picks the date the snow will be gone from HG wins a Cobra slot car. Guessing ends 3/28.

I'll guess April 10.
