live web stream

Post by thehammer »

wondering (who or what) input everyone on here would have to me running a live feed to the Inter-webs of the event, this would take nothing from you (attendees - organizers). this would be available for anyone to watch, I did it for my entire trip from DC to Cleveland, got a pretty nice quality? thoughts?

I was actually thinking about this over the winter.

The problems I think we face are that everyone that is free that day, or who could watch auto-x at home, will be at the event or another auto-x event.

Also, auto-x generally looks slow and there is a lot of down time between cars/heats ect. It wouldn't be like watching any other racing on TV except you know the people doing it and wish you were there.

I think my time span to actually watch an auto-c online would be less than 5 min. Which means Joe would have to go to great lengths for a couple people to watch a couple min each weekend.

I think streamlining the results would be time and effort better spent.

In that topic, I'd rather have access to download or DVD recording of events. It would give a good outside view of runs to study. Though I'd take advantage if offered and even pay a bit, it isn't top on my CDC wish list.

IMHO... not that useful. Beg/borrow/steal a datalogger, watch people's in car video... watching runs from the outside rarely offers a lot of insight.
Autocross. Serious business.

While video from the outside isn't particularly helpful from a driving standpoint it can help if you want to see just how much your tires are rolling/sliding, how your suspension looks, how loud your car is or other stuff. With that in mind I would still love to have all of my runs recorded so I can watch them later.
