Mounting and balancing tires for a reasonable rate?

Post by smetzger »

Hi,

Anyone know of a place that will mount and balance tires at a reasonable rate, in the Laurel/Columbia or Frederick areas?

These are RE-11's.

Thanks,
Scott

It depends on how much you care about your rims

You don't care:
Go to Tirerack and look for their preferred installers in your area. They will list prices for their installer program. Find people who are cheapest, call them, and ask them if they will give you that price. I usually pay $10-$15 a wheel for a 15 inch tire after haggling. Take pictures of your rims back and front so you have something to fall back on if they really mess it up. I recommend putting a sticker on the rim or something identifiable so that you can prove the picture is of the rim they damaged.

You care dearly:
Pay the $30-$40 a wheel to go to some performance/tuner shop with the touchless mounting system and a tech that won't use a screwdriver and a hammer to remove your sticky weights from your painted rims.

Bring them to me one day during the week and I will see if I can get my shop foreman to work on them and get them done. They did my 888's on my 15" rims and had no problems.

Looks like $10 a wheel for a mount and balance. Good find; though I will gladly pay more to not have to go anywhere near Walmart ever again. I doubt their techs are any more or less apt than the guys you get at Merchant, NTB, etc.

the walmart near my house wouldn't mount 50 series tires on 15" rims. YMMV
