09/12 T&T (aka Run-Fest 2010)

Post by bellykat »

...best day in Ax all year as far as I'm concerned.

Those who weather-punkd really really should be kicking yourself right now.

30 runs + per participant until we were running on rims or just got bored.

anyone see anything suspicious in the upper lot, or have my tools, please let me know. Otherwise, when at harry grove, keep an eye on your stuff :x

Fantastic event! I think the STi got about 50 runs between myself and everyone else taking it out for a spin. For all those who stayed at home you really missed out. Noone was injured from the water falling from the sky and the course was even pretty dry in the afternoon.

Thanks to the organizers for not cancelling and hosting our own private AutoX!

on a down note: looks like someone snagged some tools out of my bag that I (stupidly) left in the top lot. No biggie only about a $20 ratchet set and a roundup pump sprayer I filled with water for tires. I hope they try and use it and weeds take over their lawn. Did anyone else leave anything up there they found missing?

Damn upset the M3 wasnt running for this Test and Tune. I will definitely be there for the next one.

Sounds like a few people got their stuff taken which is a huge shock as ive never heard that happen before. Hopefully it was just a miscommunication and somebody has your stuff.

We were all in the lower lot so noone was around up top. I figure a local probably grabbed them.

Great day ... the best part was matching Mike's time in my car though ... who knew I had it in me

Sorry you guys missed it. I think I had more runs today than I have in the entire season combined. We even switched the course around after lunch so we didn't get bored.

We did leave the upper lot after registration and had all the cars on the lower lot. We even coned off the main road and the side road to keep anyone from driving into the lot.

I think most peoples tires have seen better days after this TNT ... especially Ben's new 5.0

I wish I could have come. My car was packed and prepped to go to Frederick at 7:15 this morning, but something came up and I had to cancel. So bitter! :(

Most laid back and definitely most runs for the money of any autocross EVER. My new Mustang 5.0 got more action than Megan Fox on ecstasy. Less than 1000 miles and the showroom Pirelli Zeros front edges are toast. Anyone there both days had to give major props to Larry's course. Yesterday, with the sun out it was flowing and fast. In the dreary rain today, it ran like a giant multipart skidpad. Tons of throttle steering and four wheel sliding practice on the wet pavement. Then it dried out and got fast again. It used every inch of the lot, and when people ate it, they just went rallying a little. Thanks to John for the trick at the helm of the STi. The thing is quick was hell and turns like magic.

Here's yesterday's quickest, a 45.8 --

Make that a 44.8 for Saturday. Fastest times yesterday were in the 44s and 45s, but conditions and the course (in the afternoon) were different. Obviously.

You can't use that move. I trademarked that earlier in the season. It is amazing how much easier it is to threshold brake at the track vs. in Auto-X. At the track you have all the time in the world to prepare for braking, commence braking, and perform threshold braking. At Auto-X, it is all gas, brake, gas, brake, flail arms, brake, gas, cone...

Stupid wheel bearings... I wish I could have been there.

I don't know that it counts as steeling your move when I'm destroying no where near flat spotting $25 tires and you are on nice new sticky R-comps

I practiced the flail arms technique a lot in the morning during the rain ... it mostly ended up with me backwards ... not as backwards as Mike Golden ... he stuffed my car into the grass hill (sorry Mike ... I have to make myself feel better about my driving skillz)

in my defense... I was rallycrossing all day the day before :)

driving a miata on wet concrete is a tad different than driving a impreza sideways on dirt :)

Thanks everyone. I had an awesome time out there. Glad I braved the rain for this one. Too bad I had battery problems that cut my day short, but still had a blast. On a side note MINI is covering my battery under warranty so new battery for me! I'll see you guys in November.
