Rally to Bill Scott's Estate - British Car Show

Post by echan »

The Capital Driving Club will hold a bracket fun rally from our storage shop in Springfield/Newington, VA (same shop that many MG tech sessions are held) to the Hunt Country Car Show on Sunday October 12th.

The rally will start at 8:00 am with cars departing at 1 minute intervals.

Rather than having clues or difficult questions or a formal Time Distance Speed (TSD) type rally, this rally will be simple and will work like the following:

1. Each team must make a reservation on-line by visiting the CDC web site at http://www.capitaldrivingclub.com in the “Schedule” page and click on the Rally on October 12th. Please submit only one reservation per car/team so that we can get an accurate idea of how many cars will be in attendance.
2. Each participant arrives and registers at the Springfield shop at 8:00 am.
3. At registration each team gets directions with an estimated time and a time card.
4. Each team will write down their actual estimated elapsed time to reach the car show on the time card.
5. As teams are ready, they will depart in about 1 minute intervals.
6. As each team departs, we will electronically stamp the time on the time card.
7. When arriving at the show, the team will locate the rally organizer and get their time card stamped again and turned in. Each team will also have a chance to win a door prize when they turn in their time card, including CDC autocross passes, tire gauge, CDC hat, etc.
8. The team with the actual time being closest to the estimated elapsed time wins. Tie breaker rules would be the shortest estimated time, followed by the team that went below rather than over their estimated time.

The estimated time to the show is approximately 2 hour.

The cost of the rally is $15. (Note that there is a $5 per car entry fee for the show).

Will the CDC organizer at the car show be wearing a bright orange traffic cone on their head? Or will it be more like a "Where's Wally" scavenger hunt to find Ed wandering amongst the crowd of show goers?

$15 per car for the rally (payable to CDC) plus $5 per car for Spectator Parking & Admission payable at the car show, bringing the grand total to $20 per car. The rally is open to all regardless of club membership status. The rally could be done by driver alone although it's usually more fun to have a navigator to keep you company. If you have the room, feel free to have your friends/family ride along with you as it won't cost any more. If your friends would rather drive their own cars they can sign up themselves and pay the $15 entry fee.
