EMRA 11/12-13

Post by FredK »

Don't forget about this one. Their end of the year event is always a blast. It's on the main, the pdx part is just Sunday and they used to do a $100.00 off for your first event with them, which makes it a $100 track day.

Their are always some pretty cool cars in the TT. Registration closes Monday night.

Stop playing in the dirt already and get to a track day :D

You will have to come to the paddock anyway to get the seat. The r-comps aren't going anywhere near gravel roads.

It looks really empty when I went over there at lunch, do you get a lot more track time with EMRA because there are fewer people?

It was a really fun weekend. It does thin out a little by mid day Sun. Everything ran smoothly and the flaggers and timing group from Watkins Glen were awesome. On schedule the whole weekend.

I was saving the good stuff until the PM sessions, unfortunately we got black flagged before the tires got warm, then I broke my car on my first fast lap in the next session. I'm actually happy to be alive and the car is in one piece.

The EMRA guys have some hardcore TT guys, they were nice, but they did not want me to beat them. I may surprise them up north in the spring.

Dave and Scott both did great. Dave was stomping all the Miatas, an SC lotus, and S2000's, fun to watch. They liked him less than me.

I run emra because of the relaxed atmosphere. Competition is great too.

Fred broke a rear upper control arm. Not his fault. I think he was putting down 1.19s all day. That's insanity fast and the car is capable of easy 5-10 sec more. Fred lost to one of the fastest race prepped corvettes I have seen at a TT.

Dave ran great with a first place finish in Miata challenge. I think around a 1.29 ish. The lap record for a Miata is 1.26 this year in NASA TT. That's prolly a fully prepped race car, and Dave was running old autocross tires. Within 3 seconds of the fastest Miata of the year is really quick.

AWD class was an all day dog fight. I got beat out by .7 seconds for first. First was 1.24 flat, I ended with a 1.24.7. 3rd hit 1.27. Two gun fighters blew their cars up in the hunt.

There are track days and there are time trials. If you want to push yourself and your car to do personal bests... And actually know how you rank, you can't beat emra.

Come play in NASA TT! I promise we are good folks too, plus we got free hoo hoos to win ;) Competition is a bit harder but itll push you to go faster!

Nice job Fred on the 1:19s, thats blazing for a cobra without aero!

Im sure you know this, but I want to reiterate it for people that havent done TT before. The fastest laps at Summit are run in the morning after one session has gone out, and your out next. Summit tends to get greasy around 11-12, and much worse into the afternoon. At least with NASA events... Dont know how much traffic and sessions there are with EMRA.

1:19 in a formula V would be staggeringly fast. That is ~5s quicker than the lap record.

Judging from the lap times I would lean towards Formula enterprise or continental...

It's probably one of them then :) after google image searching them they look about right, but I can't tell which one it was.

WTF, it was a souped up lawn mower. I love NASA, but they wouldn't let me run my cobra in TT's, and I'm not a redneck.

I've run with every group out there, and overall the level of consistantly competant drivers, i.e. low # of totally idiots is best with EMRA. All their driving suits look 20 years old. They do have a bunch of well driven beaters, which do get in the way, but they are very flexible about passing, as long as everyone is on the same page.
