NASA HPDE Nov 3-4

Post by ACoopeR »

I will be there in the green mini for my last track day of the year, one autoX after and then time to hibernate the summer tires :(

Number 41 or 411 (have to double check my registration) there both sat and sun for once

Last 2 events I went to had rain + cold, i don't mind one at a time but the combo is rough, fingers crossed...

Cool hopefully the hurricane scares three people away and you can make it. I did a LeMons race in 40F raining and 45mph gusts and it was still a good time. The weather looks pretty good come the 3rd though.

As for the inspection I usually go to RRT as they are super close to me (http://roadracetech.com/) but there are probably a little far for you, the website does have a list of shops or you can self tech and given you are pretty knowledgeable of you car shouldn't be tough. Not sure about the PA shops but this is the list I found: http://www.nasaracing.net/?page_id=156 pretty much any decent race shop will do it for free.

Here is the form: http://www.nasaproracing.com/forms/form_hpde_tech.pdf
It is actually less checks then the SCCA one which has things like brake pad thickness etc and looks pretty much like what the CDC guys check at autoXs

What brake pads/fluid do you have? If you fluid is old might be worth a flush with ate or motul. My first event or 2 I was okay with my normal pads but once I figured out how to go fast, I started having to use real track pads.

i didn't notice the self tech option... i think i will probably have to do that.

I have Hawk HP+ pads and will do a flush. So they might get a little soft if i push it.

Yeah I sometimes self tech but if i am going to the shop anyway i have them do it, nothing is really difficult to check, the event staff will do a check too for things like wheel bearings etc before you go on track

with hp+ pads you should be alright, the good thing is that pad fade usually goes away if you back off for a lap or so, once fluid boils is tough to recover without bleeding the system again

Glad you enjoyed it, nice videos too :D I really want to get a camera or some kind of data system, this wish list is getting too long.....

Things I am thankful for: living ~1 hour +/- 15 minutes from all the CDC venues and summit point , moved here before i knew about CDC and summit point and definitely lucked out

Can't wait for spring!!!!
