Anyone running the redline time attack in August?

I am instructing for the HPDE on Saturday. I have a bunch of S2000 friends who will be running on Sunday.

I'm most likely running in Modified. Just need to install a fire extinguisher before I register.

I have run with Redline twice and never had a fire extinguisher.

I will be running Modified FWD.

I just talked to Nikolas from Redline. The rules have been revamped this year from what it looks like.

Guess I will be buying a fire extinguisher also.

You'll also need a fire suit to run in modified if you already don't have one. This is also a change from last year.

PTuning will hand me my backside this year running in Modified against them. I ran Unlimited last year due to having 710's. I am running 888's this year so I can run in Modified.

That car was pretty quick. Good luck this year. What was your time last year? I'm sure I'll get whooped too in modified RWD.

Redline was my first weekend ever on a track of any kind. I ran Saturday in the test and tune then ran the event on Sunday and ended up running a 1.49 as the best official timed lap.

I think durning one of the practice sessions I was down to the mid 1.48's or so.

That's a good time for your first track event. That was my fifth track event. I thought the time attack format forced me to really push myself. I ended up with a 1.43 and a spin. I came within a couple of feet of hitting a concrete wall.

I think I remember some 1:47's for you last year, when it didn't count. Don't forget BFG R1's are allowed in modified this year as an exception, which would be great for me.

By the time we were done running timed runs on Sunday I had 3 tires that were down to the cords in a few places.

The Cobra was fun, but I'm working on something a little more aero friendly, say <1.0 drag coefficient. I hope to be there in Modified RWD this year.

I am planning to give it another try in something a little speedier than last year. The field is pretty small due to the Fed Ex conflict and a few other local events. It will be a great time to get lots of time with just a few other cars per group with fairly even times. They are still looking for more participants in all classes.

That is one of the best looking cars from back in the day. I love that thing. I cannot wait to see it.

Nope it's not mine. The owner saw some of the suspension stuff I had done to my car and talked me into doing it to his Coupe. It's pretty much like my Cobra except for the huge Wilwood brakes, new Rausch engine, new tires, and areo body. Should be fun! I've driven it about 5 miles on the street.

What do they use for a donor chassis? Fox body Mustang or something else?

Non-donor, the frame is based on 4" round tubes, with an integrated rollcage. Not exactly your momma's kit car. It's got power steering, IRS rear, Konis DA's etc.

I'll be pretty dissappointed if it's not faster than my old breadbox. I too am loooking forward to it. It's a fun event to watch, come on out just tell the gate people you are Dave's crew, you'll get in free!

I'm going to be in Cumberland Fri and Saturday. My engineer, er ah, the cars owner will be doing the HPDE in the coupe on Saturday. He's a great guy, as long as he doesn't wreak it or beat me.
