TrackDaze Shenandoah October

Post by hufflepuff »

I'm signed up for both days (black integra #512) along with my dad (dark green eXpresso neon #531). At the last event, Dave Valeri and I mixed it up with the Golden boys (Mike and Jim). Eric W was there with his miata and ACooperR was there with his Mini S.

Anyone else thinking or planning on attending?

Yes, I'll be running solo all weekend and can give rides if anyone is interested. It will be my first time on Shenandoah though.

Last time there was june with a best of 1:46.1 should be able to drop a bit with the new running gear given the before and after improvements on main, tho a decent chunk of that is not over-braking for 3 like i used to

Image

M3 is a buddy's data i loaded for comparison purposes

testing out adjustments to the rear sway bar (stiffer) this weekend at main to counter some understeer in the 6-8 complex...

Our lap times are pretty close. It's a shame we aren't running the same group. My times were around 1'45" and when I didn't hit traffic my times were within a second of each other. I have done some minor weight reduction since then so we'll see what it drops to!

Well the last event I did with trackdaze they bumped me to black so that might happen again, maybe I can line up behind you, try to keep up and learn something!

I was going to save up this winter to get aftermarket seats for the mini which should drop quite a few pounds, I was thinking about a harness/roll-bar at the same time but I don’t think my tires will fit in the backseat if I get that too so might stick with the oem belts for a bit longer :-/

Quick question for you guys. I got my annual inspection sticker at the last TrackDaze event. Does this mean I can fill out the tech inspection form myself or do I still have to take it to some sort of shop to get inspected? I know I can skip the even tech line, but it seemed like I still needed to get the inspection form filled out for the event.

Yes bring your completed form and let registration know you have annual tech.

Remember that time the wheel spokes failed and the barrel went its own way... wtf that isn't supposed to happen, at least it is a legit excuse for going off

Image

and the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RIHZA_bBu1c

yes that is a fire starting at the end, the fire didn't get too bad and it was mostly grass burning and very little car
seeing the wheel going bouncing by is slightly comical

That is incredibly frusterating! Enkei wheels? It's good the failure didn't happen until the later part of the karrusel, because if you went off earlier you might have hit the outside wall. I'm really sorry to see it happen.

yeah it could have been much worse. the car was even potentially drive-able once i swapped the wheel but it was also leaking fuel so left it there while i try to figure out towing :-/

it was indeed the enkei pf-01s, i have only had them for a year so i doubt they fatigued out; i will definitely be reaching out to them...

That sucks but at least your car came out relatively undamaged body wise, which cant be said for the 3 or 4 other black flag incidents. One Mustang in Blue (I think) group literally went less than 100 yards out of the pits and ended up in the wall, ending his weekend. Another Mustang then ate it coming out of the carousel in the Yellow group. I actually have video from in my car of the aftermath: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... r0E#t=1513
You may recognize Eric Higgings Miata in front of me.

I think there was also a Miata that also nailed the wall coming out of the Trigger, but I didn't see that one.

Other than those unfortunate incidents, I had a lot of fun at this track. It felt like this track was designed for light weight/low power cars and even though this was my first time at Shenandoah and first time being bumped up into the Yellow group, I don't think I ever had to give a point by (other than during the check ride where I was instructed to just for practice).

Here's a clip of my fastest lap: http://youtu.be/NTgvKn2zVeg
You can also find the rest of my videos from the weekend on my Youtube account.

Crazy.

This miata was in our group and may be the one you're talking about: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQY8Z0ImSwo
