For those of you starving for action during the off-season like myself. Yea, it's a bit of a drive, but there is nothing else going on right now.

Normally I would too, but no seat time for two months has made me restless. That and it's not like I have anything better to do.eage8 wrote:damn, I would love to go... but I draw the line at 2 1/2 hours away

I would go, but I will likely have a dependant by then. The lot is huge. Expect a very fast course. Used to go to those in my early days.

Good to know, I've never been. I'll have to make sway bar adjustments if there are long sweepers.konkilr wrote:I would go, but I will likely have a dependant by then. The lot is huge. Expect a very fast course. Used to go to those in my early days.

Whats the surface like? Better or worse than the TSP at Summit?

Coming back. While I could stay in that area, as I do a lot of work in the VA Beach region, I dont feel like taking all my work gear with me to an event, or driving my Corolla all week to and from my hotel.hepcatz wrote:Jim, are you going down & coming back or staying over?

The event was pretty fun. National style course and the ground was decent. I'm not too sure about how my times went though, I felt very rusty and out of shape.

Re: NASA autox at VMP [1/24/10]
Yea, I talked to the folks and I was apparently the fastest on street tires that day. It was rather cold in the first heat (my heat) and I'm not sure how the folks got heat into their r-comps. Perhaps because it was such a fast paced course with two sections of VERY tight slaloms (the slowest slaloms I've ever seen). At one point on the course I was banging off the rev limiter (8300rpms'ish) in 2nd.eage8 wrote:seems like you did decently well to me, 18th out of 58:

When I checked in, they had me running in novice . I did some calculations on NASA's math-based class system and I should have been in NASA-X E (mainly because of my motor swap), but because it was my first time running with that chapter, they noobified me.

Re: NASA autox at VMP [1/24/10]
I think the folks I spoke to may have been mistaken. I've sat down and actually looked at the results and I know Alex with the yellow Evo and he ran on street tires with a 59.4. Maybe they were talking about just the first heat, I dunno.flohtingPoint wrote:Yea, I talked to the folks and I was apparently the fastest on street tires that day.

Re: NASA autox at VMP [1/24/10]
The lot out there is pretty good. Decent surface, relatively flat.
Unfortunately the courses on that lot are close to a mile long. We're talking .8 mile autox here. I got into third gear on one, and may have banged the rev limiter (my camera battery died on the previous run, so I have no proof).
My first time running with them, they didn't noobify me, but I went there knowing exactly what I classed out at, and exactly how many points I had left in my class. Thank god they didn't, I felt a lot more competitive because of it.

Haha I bit late but I just saw this.. I was running street tires as well. (Don Fitzpatrick 1999 M3), I was on my winter setup as well crappy proxe 4s staggered
NASA still has good competition, but since the classing is not like SCCA ( I thinnk its wayyyyy better), people havent maximized their setups, so if you maximize yours now youll be in good shape for competing.
Hope to see you at the one next weekend. Running the CDC one saturday, and then driving down to stay at my friends in richmond and do the NASA one on sunday. May get pwned at CDC next week in index, my rs2s are finally completely heat-cycled out, their bricks
