engine rebuild & body work shops

Post by Bigbacon »

Can someone recommend me a few places to check out to see about getting an engine redone and some possible clutch replacement work in Northern VA?
Also look for a decent shop for some body work.

For Machine Shops, I suggest George at Performance Machine in Newington (near Newington/Springfield Costco).

7304 Boudinot Drive
Springfield, VA 22150-2207
(703) 440-0023

I also suggest Larry at C & M Machine in Alexandria (on Ft 1 near Ft Belvior).

8135 Richmond Highway
Alexandria, VA 22309-3613
(703) 780-0566

Both shops are pretty good.

For body work, see Joe Macinnes (although he's in Frederick, MD).

I'd rather drive the Frederick MD than any place near or off of 95 or the belt way though if the price is right, doedsn't matter.

The machine shop places, they will do full or partial builds and other stuff? guess I read machine shop and it screws with the mind. hoping to the place could do the build and some clutch work also.

thank.

both places will do full rebuilds, head work, or even small jobs like pressing out bearing races or resurfacing flywheels.

Larry at C & M doesn't like to do partial rebuilds. They probably will, but he likes to know a motor won't be coming back soon. The building looks like it's going to fall down (unless they have moved in the last 10 years), but they are honest and do good work. Probably not the cheapest, but you don't want that anyway.

There's got to be something closer to Frederick, though.

I know there are plenty of places around (I am near chantilly va)

I just don't like the idea of walking in to a bunch of places, getting quotes, just going on quesitonable reviews from online resources.
