Introduction...finally!!

Post by SicMonte »

Just wanted to formaly introduce myself on here! My name is Doug Lutes and I drive the satin black 1988 Monte Carlo SS that was at the 11/19/11 autoX at Harry Grove Stadium.

I attend many different events throughout the year with the newly formed "American Street Car Series" and with Goodguys. These events consist of a road course time trial, autoX and usually a speed/stop challenge. It's all in fun b/c my car is no where near one of the best.

I was very impressed with the way the autoX I attended with your group was run! Very smooth and a blast to attend! I plan to attend every Frederick autoX and maybe some Bowie ones.

Feel free to ask any questions you all want and I hope to meet you all at the upcoming event this weekend!!

Hi Doug,

Cool car 8-) My friends and I are currently trying to build a 87' Monte for some racing in LeMons/2012Challenge races (so by design nowhere really near yours in terms of condition or performance lol).

I was wondering if you might have some insight into racing this car you wouldn't mind sharing? We only have 1 test day before the first race :o

What is the typical mpg you see while on track?
What types of spares should we be bringing along / what are the common failures due to track use to look out for?
I don't really know much about these cars, would springs or sway bars or something else be a good mod to use up the space left in our budget (~300)?

Thanks!
Mods: I have some. They make me :-) I am now broke :-(
