Engine Rebuilding in MD

Post by 2Blackvettes »

My engine failed in my 77 Vette. It was a YearOne Crate 350 making 400+ HP. Broken stud and bent push rod. Looking for recommendations for someone experience in rebuilding Chevy engines. I think that I only the top end done. Any suggestions are welcome.

I am done with tracking this car so cruising is my goal. :D

when you say "broken stud", I assume you're talking about a rocker arm stud since you mentioned bent pushrod. That should be a pretty quick fix (not a rebuild) unless something else happened as a result.

Thanks

Yes Rocker arm stud. I was talking a guy at one shop that said the stud (pressed in) could be replaced with the head on the car. But got some conflicting information from another shop that said the head had to come off and they also needed to check the values to ensure no additional damage.

So I assumed that I needed the top end rebuilt. (We are near the end of my limited knowledge).

Sounds like they want to make sure that valve didn't seize in the valve guide, the guide shifted etc. -hence, pulling the head. Just an opnion.
