Cooling fan interrupt timer mod

Post by JayPar »

A little mod that I came up with that actually works. Temporarily turns off the cooling fan to avoid bogging down the engine during an autocross run. After the run, the timer reactivates the fan after the configured timeout (or if you manually push the button again before the time expires).

Neat. My TR6 has a manual over-ride fan switch and a thermostatically controlled switch. I normally use the manual over-ride switch to get the coolant a little lower than the when the thermostat will kick on, then turn off the fan just before I launch. There have been several times when I forgot to turn off the fan during the run.
