Winter Season Events

Post by wrathe74 »

Are there any winter events/courses/training?

What does everyone do during the off-times - as it relates to AutoX or Road Racing?

I am hoping to be able to, at the very least, keep my skills up - if not improve on them.

Washington SCCA is running a 3 or 4 race Kart enduro deal.

Check the website. I got an email about it a month or so ago. I think it was a Nov, Dec, Jan or Dec, Jan, Feb thing.

They were running it in Delaware somewhere.

probably going to do some indoor karting for winter to keep sharp. CDC indoor kart event anyone? if you get enough people, you could rent out the entire place for the day and it wont be very much per person.

If you are going to rent the place for the whole day I would suggest either running an Enduro event.

Usually they run 3 people per kart and run for like 3 or 4 hours or something like that.

I have run a couple of these and they are a blast. They usually put out a sign when to pit and change drivers and you have 3 laps to pit and switch drivers before you get penalized.

Someone said the one in Sterling has really gone downhill and suggested going to Del.

When you rent these places, do you need to bring your own Kart, or can you rent them as well?

Usually when I went to Sterling on 4 or 5 corporate events they gave you everything including the Suit, Helmet, ect.

Only thing you had to supply was yourself, closed toe shoes and the willingness to listen to the in class instructions and follow directions.

I want to say it is in Newark or something like that.

I will look around and see what I can find.

SCCA is running there. I will check the email when I get home.

Real problem with karting is there is no setting/handicapping for the fat guys like me.

The skinny guys end up running away from us all the time.

I requested some information from the Delaware location.

I also found this:

Adults Team Leagues - Next League Starting November 3, 2008
Three Person teams will run one night per week for 8 consecutive weeks. Drivers each week will earn points for their team and top teams at the end of the 8-weeks session will receive trophy's. Put together your own team or we can place you on a team. We are starting a new league every 10 weeks, so contact us at (302) 656-5278 to sign up for the next league.
Price: $140 per person (Annual Membership Required)

So even if CDC is not interested, maybe get a group of us to form a league(or two) and register for the next one?
