R-Compounds are cupping, cause?

Post by GTI0125 »

I was noticing this past weekend the the drivers front tire is cupping. Its only that one tire that is cupping, the other 3 look fine.

What could be causing this?

Cupping is usually tire pressure or a toe problem with the alignment.

Are these your AutoX or Track tires. I would not think just AutoXing would give you enough runs to cup a set.

Has to be something out of whack on the alignment. Check wear items on the suspension, and get the alignment checked.

Finally got the cupping issue figured out on my GTI. Turns out that both the front shocks and strut bushings were wore out. The top of the strut was actually hitting the underside of the hood.

Now the hunt for a new set of shocks and springs begins
