Carbotech Pads

Post by hufflepuff »

Who here has tried Carbotech AX6? Any comments on noise, initial bite, and fade resistance?

Is this the one that used to be called " Panther Plus" ?

If so, it's very good for autoX. Strong enough to easily lock up your tires, unlike most stock pads. Quiet, fade free on AutoX, so/so bite on first application. After that very good. Plenty of dust. Make sure to clean it off your wheels. Don't let it get rained on then dry up, or you'll be chipping it off like cement.

If the AX6 is the old "Bobcat " pad, I didn't care for those. Not much different than OEM.
Maybe passable for rear breaks.

If AX6 is completely different than each of these, I can't help you :D

I switched from XP8's to AX6's at the end of last year. For auto-x, I like them a lot. Very good initial bite, nice modulation. I don't think you'd fade them at an auto-x, but you probably could at the track. They work well on the street too, although they sometimes squeel a bit on a low speed stop. Much less dust than XP8's.

The AX6 is the successor to the panther plus pads. More aggressive than the Bobcat's.

Not the AX6 but I use the Bobcat 1521 pads for both my Civic and BMW. No problems with autox or daily driving. Now dust and no squeals. On my BMW they do rumble a bit. For the track I used XP10/XP8 for the BMW and XP8/Bobcat for the civic. No problems there either.
