Miata Catalytic Converter

Post by FredK »

So I stalled my emission test for a year...today was the deadline. I was told to talk to the man inside about my test, "that won't be neccessary" I said. I need a cat to borrow or buy for a Miata. I have put 2,000 miles on the car in four years, so I'm not really doing the enviroment too much damage.
thanks,
FredK

1.6L or 1.8L?
They have a different angle to the flanges.

Magnaflow Part # 23696 from performancepeddler.com

$84.18 shipped.

Miata.net has good reviews for both the cat and the vendor. Double check the part number for your year.

David, I'll split it with you. I only need it for about an hour, you can have it.

Too late. It is already on the car and I think I am going to keep it on the car. It makes mother-nature happy, Stephanie will stop complaining about the smell of uncatalyzed exhaust, and 1hp (maybe) isn't going to help me beat you and AJ.

It turns out that my test pipe was larger than the rest of my exhaust. The new cat matches the diameter of my cat-back and has much nicer welds so I think I am just going to leave it on the car. I don't think $40 is worth the time (and grief for spending time with the car) to swap again. Plus, power is insignificantly different between the pipe and the MF direct fit converter: http://www.mx6.com/forums/2g-mx6-other- ... cat-3.html
