I'm bringing Zack, my youngest brother again. Also a member of the UMBC Baja team who hasn't auto crossed since acquiring his Volvo Station Wagon! They'll both be driving my car. To the guys who were advising me earlier on another post, if any of you want to have a go in the RX8 and think you can set a strong benchmark you are welcome to do so.

Just noticed a Nissan Juke registered. Maybe it's a joke, not sure lol. But if it's not, does that really pass safety requirements (roll over, high COG, wheels base, blah blah)?

Hopefully we'll have the mini back on coilovers for the last event of the year. Now I just hope the rebuilt Konis hold up for more than a season

Mine would go like 3-4 events and start to leak again...

We once had a Juke registered earlier this year and gave them a warning & a probation that if any instability is seen, we will not allow the car. I'm not sure if the car ever showed up to the event. So the participant for this event also has the same probation. CDC does not allow trucks or SUVs. However, crossovers and such fall in a grey area (keep in mind that "Crossover" is not an officially defined class of vehicle by the Government).AJ_RDR_Civic wrote:Just noticed a Nissan Juke registered. Re: Last 2012 CDC autox and TNT now open for members
Unless I missed it when I skimmed over the SCCA rules....the Juke is not classed. Meaning it did not make the criteria for roll-over safety. Of course the numbers they use are with the expectation that the car will run on A6's...which drastically increase the roll over hazard. It's probably fine on street tires IMO.
Re: Last 2012 CDC autox and TNT now open for members
I'm the owner/driver of the Juke. No, it's not a joke.
Ran it at VIR earlier this year with no problems. And I was not taking it easy.
That said, I've never done autoX and I plan on taking it easy, assuming the Juke satisfies the requirements.

I could not find anything relevant in the SCCA manual; I'm guessing that the car is considered a crossover or wagon or something that isn't "Sedan" or "Coupe" or "Hatchback" and they don't bother with it. Honestly that's probably for the best. My point is, it's no GMC Jimmy or Ford Explorer.

I'm sure it'll be fine. Just didn't know where CDC stands on vehicles like these. My only thought would be hitting that freaking crack down the middle of the lot the wrong way..

Re: Last 2012 CDC autox and TNT now open for members
The SCCA rulebook has a graph in section 3.1 that outlines what they consider to be an acceptable height/track width ratio for auto-x. There are a few exceptions such as the Subaru Forester which has a demonstrated sufficiently low CoG. Now CDC doesn't follow the SCCA rulebook but they're generally a pretty good reference of what other clubs in the area are doing.maxpeet wrote:I'm the owner/driver of the Juke. No, it's not a joke.

What tires are you running on the Juke and is it factory suspension or has it been modified?

At the speeds we reach at Harry Grove, I'm sure this is a non-issue.
I buddy of mine autox's his mid-90's boxy jeep cherokee, and pushes it HARD at waldorf and hasn't even come close.
And last weekend at Bowie multiple large SUV's went as hard as they could and the outcome was fine.

Sorry. We have to cap it around 80 to make sure we are done before it gets dark. Still some room in the T&T, though.Silver_Surfer wrote:Closed?!?! Noo!!!!

Re: Last 2012 CDC autox and TNT now open for members
The mini is on TCK coilovers with hypercoil springs. The TC Kline shocks are essentially Koni DAs valved to TCKs specs. We started at 450f/350r then moved to a 350f/350r setup. Car rotates much better with the square setup. We might do some more tweaking on spring rates but right now we're focused on getting some more tire under that little car. 215s aren't going to cut it in STX even if the car does weigh 2600lbshufflepuff wrote:v10climber wrote:Hopefully we'll have the mini back on coilovers for the last event of the year.
